LAW N ORDER

by Archie

“We have the right to refuse service to anyone”  Have you ever seen this sign at restaurant or place of business? And how often have you seen the proprietor exercise this right? Perhaps, only rarely if ever.  Recently the There Forums were notified that There would keep an eye on postings in the forums, to protect members from various negative comments when topics over personal issues arise. I haven’t yet seen any threads be removed, or noticed any changes at all in the forums, except that perhaps avie members have become a tad more aware of each other’s personal boundaries.

There- being a business, has the right to run their own business in a way they see fit. If you owned an incredible place like There (which you or I don’t), what would you allow? …Could your business then thrive? Just let people drop pazs (if there were any) on top of each other, have everyone on “ignore”, and allow general anarchy to reign in the virtual world? Soon no one would bother to submit designer objects. No buildings, clothes, or events. No one would bother to film a movie, or send invites, why bother? Would it be any fun to be a part of a dead world. –Hey! that’s a great idea for a name …

“Dead World”

Of  course if griefers were able to organize, (they would certainly be free to), in a free society-  to organize ‘Dead World’. A great big virtual continent where you cuss your head off all day and if you’re lucky enough to find another player, you could dish out ton’s of grief on that person- of course they will be doing the same for you.

The Dream of Hell

In the real world, we have poverty, street violence, war, disease and famine. People everywhere are in some sort of pain, and at least, emotional hurt. Human beings get all caught up in taking things personally and are really so sensitive and insecure that just words from each other can hurt and upset us. Why else would the ‘real world’ require so much posturing and defensive bahaviour? Why do people have a need to act and appear as though they’re “mad doggin”? It really is a sign of insecurity for someone to resort to being a “schoolyard bully”. Something like this  is described in Don Miguel’s book The Four Agreements, as the “Dream of Hell” and in this case, griefers who thinks it’s fun, bring a little of this “hell” into There.

There- The Dream of Heaven

Don Miguel has studied the Toltec’s  (the ancient pyramid builders of Mexico) philosophy. In our personal lives, we have the power to be resistant to the “bad” dream. Because a vast majority of avies are really giving, honest, and thoughtful, and live by the “Code of the West”. Your “word” is your honor. Your word has “magical” power, according to the Toltecs. We mean what we say, we do what we say we will, and that makes us “bulletproof” to griefer’s attempts to turn the place into “Dead World”. The bad energy seems to keep trying to hurt us but the positive attitudes really do dominate Thereian society. Most avies know that to have good friends is to be a good friend. Stay positive- be a good steward in There.
