A very fond farewell to Hula
It is with heavy-heartedness that we announce Hula
will be leaving There. In typical Hula style, she very eloquently informed
us that while she remains committed to There and our community, it is time
for her to pursue professional interests more aligned with her experience
and skill set, personal and professional goals.
Hula has been the primary in-world face of There since we were in Beta and
an integral member of our team. Her impact and contributions to our business
and our community are too great and too many to count. This will certainly
be an emotional farewell for us and our community.
On the bright side, Hula has stated we will continue to see her in-world and
she will remain a very active member of our community - she will keep her
'Hula' avatar, as well as her FrontierZone (a.k.a. Steadman FROZ) and Hula's
Beach House. And, she will most certainly continue to be a resource for us
as we continue to move forward in our efforts to create a fun-filled
metaverse.
I am pleased to announce that Mackie, has
agreed to rejoin our team in a Programming and Activities capacity. Mackie
will work very closely with Hula over the next couple of weeks to transition
as much as possible. We do plan to engage the community about your thoughts
and suggestions as we work to define the next chapter of Programming and
Activities.
Hula's last day on staff will be Friday, 12/10. We will miss Hula greatly
and extend our best wishes as she begins the next chapter of her
professional life.

Hula
Greetings to all my beloved There Family and Friends...
I joined There in February 2002 and, like many of you reading this, started
a love affair for life. I love THERE!
This holiday season and the coming new year is an extremely exciting time
for There and for me, personally. With so much to look forward to, wonder
about, get involved in, and make a positive contribution with... I am outta
my mind excited to see what adventures lay ahead for all of us in There and
real life!
Certainly, our wonderful members in There have made our world magickal and
ever-evolving. You all leave me awestruck, inspired, and appreciative. I am
grateful to have been on staff with There and truly blessed to have shared
and worked with such a dynamic and talented team.
Yes, indeed... I am fortunate to be involved and part of There's
community... a community full of members and staff that have huge hearts,
multiple talents, and wonderful views on life, both in and out of There. I
am also fortunate and especially thankful for my family who has always been
understanding of my love affair with There, as well as the long and strange
hours I've kept! There is no question that I have loved managing the
Programming and Activities role for There and I thank all the staff,
members, and my family who have supported my efforts along the way.
I have always looked forward to being a part of "what's happening" in There
and being involved or voicing my opinions and/or suggestions. I continue to
look forward to doing so now. The only difference is that, as of December
10, 2004, I will not be active on staff and effective January 1, 2005, I
will be effectively an active member of the community.
Please understand that resigning from staff is something that I was not
planning on doing, but is something I needed to do. Based on my professional
experience and career path, it is time for me to spread my wings in
different directions. Although leaving staff is painful (I won't kid you),
it is a good thing for both me and my family. It allows a fresh start and
new beginning on many levels, including as a contributing member of There's
community. AND, you never know when I may pound down the doors for There to
hire me BACK!
Thankfully, my soon-to-be-former-staff avatar, Hula, will continue doing
everything in world as a member would do and you will also see my personal
avatar back in world doing the same a bit more in the future. That's
right... DOUBLE TROUBLE!!! WOO HOO!!!
As for my various zones, those will transition except for the Steadman FROZ
and my house, Hula's Hale. Clubs and various programs WILL CONTINUE for
ProgAct, NHSG, F&ASG, and UOT. I will be meeting with members from those
groups in the next few weeks and doing some handoff to Mackie and members.
There is so much more I'd like to state, but I love you all and malama pono
is the best I can do...
