The Voice Remembers 9/11

by Geea

Coffee cups on the counter, jackets on the chair
Papers on the doorstep, you're not there
Everything is everything
Everything is everything
But you're missing.

A couple of nights ago Melady asked me if we would be doing something for 9/11.  I lived in New York most of my life, September 11th weighs heavily on my mind daily.  I would like to take this opportunity along with the staff of The Voice of There to honor and remember the brave men and women who lost their lives three years ago today.  They are remembered in our hearts always.

It often seems that real life and our virtual world is a parallel universe.  We bring to the game our personalities, our tastes our beliefs and for some our hearts.  A while back Melady wrote about XDamienX and the World Trade Center Memorial Park on Motu Motu.  We felt it appropriate to run it again.

World Trade Center
by Melady

There is a new Memorial Park on the island of Motu Motu.  And to stand there is to feel nearly as though one is standing on sacred ground.  For this place has been built as a tribute to the World Trade Centers’ Twin Towers that fell as a result of a terrorist attack on the United States on September 11, 2001.  The purpose of the memorial is to give a visual memory of those who lost their lives tragically on that day.  To stand at one of the two observation decks and to look down at the American Flag raised between the two towers is to remember and to reflect.  This was a very personal project for the ones who built this Memorial Park.  For they were there in New York City on the day the towers fell.  And many of them knew people that died that day.  XDamienX, is the owner of the replica towers, and he personally lost several good friends and one cousin in the attack.  He had this to say on the day I visited the park, “The Twin Towers defined the New York City skyline and what it stood for and to see them missing is a great loss.  We should never forget that day, and I will do everything I can to keep this as a memorial here.  I want this to be in this world and for it to stand for something.”  Mario420, who also was only blocks away when the first tower was hit added, “it is very inspirational to see and gives us something to remember.”  If you would like more information regarding the memorial or would like make a donation  or visit the park, please contact any member of the WTCAngels group or XDamienX.
