What is the Tiki Taxi Company?  It is exactly what it sounds like.  Why teleport or drive, just call a cab.  The Tiki Taxi Company has set up an interactive website to help customers.  If you need a ride check the site,see what cabbie is on duty, and im them.  You will then be picked up and brought to your destination.  There is a nominal charge of 99T bucks and gratuities are entirely up to you.  Roostner alerted me to the re-launch and has sent us an official press release see below:

The Tiki Taxi Co. is very proud to announce that from today, September 16 2004, it has re-launched itself with a brand new innovative and interactive customer and driver website.  The website www.tikitaxico.com allows customers to IM available drivers for rides  24 hrs a day. Drivers mark their availability by logging on to the website and flicking a switch to show whether they are 'on call' or not. It is hoped that this innovation will lift the historical restraints that There transportation groups have previously encountered. It is believed that this innovative web application is the first of it's kind in There.

To ensure that our driver pool grows, we have made it very easy for people to join us and made the service as profitable as possible for drivers. New driver applications should be made on the website and these are normally

approved within 24 hrs. All fares and gratuities received by drivers are 100% retained by the drivers. Also, the drivers are NOT requested to make any payments at all to the Tiki Taxi Co. This financial freedom hopefully will encourage applications. It is requested that drivers use the Tiki Taxi Co. branded Buggies and Shirts, however, drivers can borrow these or buy them second hand if they wish and there is no requirement to buy them new. Any new purchases will help finance the website hosting costs. 

The Tiki Taxi Co. is one of the most established businesses in There. Founded August 10, 2004 by Jeidot, the group has over fifty members and a growing pool of active drivers. Recently, the Tiki Taxi Co. developed an innovative website with Island New Media which allows customers to automatically IM any driver who is available. The new business model also allows complete entrepreneurial flexibility for the drivers who retain all fares and gratuities with no overheads to pay out. The website is jointly administered by Roonster, Jeidot & Fnirt.  Island New Media is a private There organization which develops premium  websites for community and commerce groups in There. Sites are developed using HTML, mySQL, PHP & Flash technologies. Most sites have web applications attached to them to allow modifications to the database via web pages. Island New Media's current portfolio of clients includes, The  Roonster Boardshaping Co., The North Motu Hoverboard Museum & The Tiki Taxi Co.
