Massive Therequake Rocks Club Oasis

 by Geea

On Saturday, March, 26, 2005 at approximately 8:20pm EST, a huge Therequake ripped through Club OASIS during its first hours of opening at its new location on the northernmost island of New Kansas.  The evening was going extremely well, as two of There's radio stations were beginning the Super Stations Saturday event.  There was a sudden lag, and then a crash as some of the Club's 6 floors began crashing down.  BigAngel, the owner of the nightclub, quickly dispatched evacuation teams to make sure that each and every clubgoer got out of the club safe and sound and quickly took to a hoverpack to look for survivors and survey the damage.  Kiss_Me_Tender, a bartender at the club, who was on the 4th floor at the time of the quake, began evacuating patrons as quickly as she could. She was knocked clear of the building by falling debris. Disoriented and dazed, she still held herself together and summoned as many club goers as she could out of the rubble to get them out of harm's way.

Samantha18, a greeter, kept patrons together and watched over them until the quake stopped, while Exurius checked for injuries.  Tenn_Outlaw and his security team made a very thorough search to get each and every last avatar from the scene, straining to summon trapped patrons out from between collapsed decks.  xoJillxo was on the VIP floor and helped trapped patrons to safety, summoning them clear of the building.  The staff acted quickly and efficiently keeping the safety of all in mind.  Details on what caused the quake are still sketchy but from what damage control teams can ascertain at the moment, it was an "Act of Server"  which led to the tragedy.  Thanks to the quick reflexes of the Club OASIS Staff, there were no permanent injuries sustained except for a few spilt Flaming Bananas.

"Club OASIS is dedicated to the safety of our patrons", said Shaeri, GM of the Club, "We want everyone to feel safe and like a member of the family when they walk through our doors.  We look forward to rebuilding and resuming BigAngel's vision for a fantastic nightclub and entertainment experience in There.  BigAngel has given so much to the staff and invested so much of himself and so much time and effort to There and we want to make sure that we give him all of our support in Club OASIS' moment of need. We are grateful to everyone who has come forward and donated to the Club, and we want to reassure everyone that we will be examining and re-examining every last detail so a tragedy of this magnitude will never happen again.    An enormous amount of time and effort went into the construction of Phase II, we are all heartbroken that the tragedy has happened, but we are optimistic, keep looking toward the future and look forward to once again opening our doors and our hearts to all Therians.  I'm very grateful to each and every member of our staff, they have each proven themselves to be Heroes."

Although a little drama and humor has been added to this article, the server crash and destruction to Club Oasis is quite true.  Myself and MichelleC went to Club Oasis Saturday night.  I was truly amazed at the reconstruction of the club.  It was an unbelievable place when it was first constructed on Duda Beach, but now this night spot surpassed anything I have even seen in There before.  Michelle and I were getting the grand tour of the VIP lounge and top level when the server crashed.  So why is a server crash news?  Very simple, the fact that the owner, BigAngel, spent 48 hours building this club only to have it wiped out in a matter of seconds.  Put aside the expense of running a club like this, staff, paz fees, and free drinks for all patrons.  Why would someone do all this and never ask for anything in return?  Because this new Therian wanted to give There something they have never seen before and Club Oasis is in fact nothing you have ever seen before in There.

So What's Next For Club Oasis?

Owner and staff will have a little fun before construction begins again. Club Oasis staff will be holding a Therequake Buggy Polo match on Monday at 7:30pm EST.   The staff has raised several items to give away, including 2 hoverboards, a camo-buggy and a Therecedes limited edition buggy in gratitude to the members and their generosity.

Final thought: Server crashes to most are nothing more then a minor inconvenience or perhaps something that can not be avoided.  But for those who have spent endless hours building to create something unique for our world it is much more.  Many space and sky paz owners know the heartache.  Let us show our support and thanks to all who have created these wonderful places in There.
