OK YOU SLEEPY HEADS WAKE UP AND by Rose_Blossom This might sound to you like the call of the wild, but for those of us familiar with the daily routine, this familiar bellow is none other than Ctroni (or “roni,” as is her preference) who is hard at work, cooking up the best breakfast buffet on the planet. Karilea, shows up with her three “assistants,” Dimitri, Christophe and the resident gnome cook, Sasha, who’s there to help Roni if she needs it…which she never does. Meanwhile, yours truly is busy spreading vases of roses and baskets of petals all around the kitchen, while stocking up on my favorite breakfast treat, TastyKakes! Thanks to Jasper_D, TastyKakes are my new vice…as well as my saving grace! And so begins another day in the BC (Breakfast Club). If you like loads of caffeine …a little poetry,…and a keg of confusion,…as well as a fair share of comedy and morning time mayhem, you must make it a point to drop by the Breakfast Club thread in the daily Buzz in There’s Official Forums. This Thread has been a dedicated mainstay of the official forums for a very long time…longer, in fact, than I have been in There, and longer than most of the current members. To learn about the origins of this
forum thread, I went right to the thread’s historian, and its resident
cheerleader and current club leader. Yes, you heard me, the
Breakfast Club is also a club-club and it’s leader, Karilea, is
The beauty of the BC lies not in what is served every morning, but more what is discussed over the breakfast table. Some of the time, its casual discussion about the weather, local real-life events and people. Other times, however, its not unusual to find some playful mischief and acrobatic avie-launching! In order to understand exactly what THAT means, we have to talk to the club’s current leader, Karilea and the unofficial historian, Kally_Lunch. Kally has been busy creating a retrospective website on the club, sort of a BC “Hall of Fame.” I asked Kari to come and talk with the Voice, so that I could ask her about the history of the club. I’ve been a member since early 2004, but she’s been with the club since the beginning. She also shared with me some wonderful RARE photos of some of the clubs original members. Ooooh, gosh…those were the days! Before we talk to Kari, let me take you back, for just a minute, to a crisp fall morning, which happened to be Halloween, in 2003 ………………….. Flashback………………….

and ready to play tonight <g> I had some errands to run this morning so I
will just reply to everyone in one post..
According to Kally_Lunch’s web site, this was the first thread (the thread was edited for space-saving purposes), appropriately titled, “w00t Morning!” which was devoted solely for the purpose of socially interacting with members of There during the morning maintenance periods, when There wasn’t available. A gathering hole where fun, nonsensical things were discussed, friendships were bonded, food fights flourished, and breakfast was served!
Hey! Here’s Karilea now! Sweetie, come on in, grab a coffee and a pillow! We’re gonna talk Breakfast! *Karilea sashays into the room, with Christophe in tow. She sits down and Christophe prepares her favorite, a Chai Latte, to perfection.* Kari pats the pillow next to her, signaling to Christophe. “ You’ll be pleased to know that I brought some pictures! Some of them are from the original group gatherings. And of course there are a few of the infamous monkey-shine pictures of original members. “What would you like to know?” I want to know everything…How the club originated, who started it, and who the first members were? Kari thought a moment then sighed contentedly. “In the beginning there was Akia, a happy little bundle of sweetness that would greet the forums each morning with virtual breakfast, coffee and a warm hello. It did not take long for Akia to be nicknamed There_Sunshine, after all that is what she became too many.”
“Within a short time a family was formed in this regular Breakfast Thread. Akia and Droopy begot Lali (the 'bad' one), Petrah (the least 'bad' one) and Karilea (mis-understood). These girls soon earned their own nickname, The Triplets of Doom. The only person capable of out doing the triplets dark and witty humor was Auntie Rejeanne. Soon Grimm, Myrmex, Onus and Crucial were regularly jumping in to the chaos. Grimm of course, as many of you will know, originated the breakfast licking fetish. He must have been infectious because it turned in to a wide spread epidemic within a short period of time. The lick was used to express liking, love or desire for both avies and objects.” Sipping her latte, Kari continued, “Myrmex would appear in flashes of fire, wreaking havoc as he went. Ahh to Onus we've come. The mysterious man in dark glasses and jacket. A talented buggy designer and musical artist as well. Petrah's constant companion in many a games. Crucial was there too, most of the time. Content to give and receive affections from all of the ladies. Then came Theona the sweetest lil' goth girl you ever did meet. A strong leader and contributor to TMOA. Last_Wish was there too. Halo always on. Innie the energy ball graced us as well. Sugary sweetness and generous heart. Bamma always quick with the kisses and love. Dark_Viper did slither in often too. Net_Op, the newbie, found us before he even landed in world. For a long while he was Wish's constant companion. Xavena and her coffin were ever present in those days. The coffin getting makeovers in the finest of fabrics by Theona with love. Brac also came to regale us with tales of SEVEN children to raise . MelissaD came in too. She is Brac's There companion. A sweet person to keep him grounded. Water_Sign came in to instill a bit of wisdom on us now and then. Doc_B, Karilea's snuffa-luffa-gus came by now and then. He is my significant other in There and RL.”
Kari finished her latte and handed her cup and saucer to Christophe, “So there you have the Beginning of a legacy. The first bunch of love that I found in the forums. Each one still occupying a piece of my heart.” There is a real Club called the Breakfast club in There. What is its history, and what do you wish to see become of it? “The Breakfast Club was formed/created by Lali. This was done after several months of our rambunctious forums play. I think for most, it never occurred to create one. Afterall we saw each other each morning in forums.” “Personally I did not form the club because I always assumed that Akia would when she wanted. LOL It's a good thing Lali did, or it may not have been at all. During a lull in Lali's interest of all things There, she transferred leadership of the Breakfast Club to me. I held events/get togethers for the members and made a few BC themed items. I lead for a few months, then I myself became disillusioned with There, at that time the leadership was transferred to Innie. Innie held office for a few months as well. Life became busy and her interest in There dwindled. Luckily around that time, Lali was starting to get her second There wind. So the leadership of the BC came full circle and returned to her. She has kept that position since fall of 2004.“
**Note** Since this interview, Kari reacquired the club from Lali, and is the club’s current leader. As a member of the Breakfast Club since July, 2004, I’ve enjoyed a lot of laughs, dried a few tears, fought some fears, and made a lot of friends. Recently, in expressing to Kari about wanting to “boost up” the club, schedule some events, try to get everyone together, she sadly admitted that it was difficult anymore to even find most of the original members online. Karilea did mention her thoughts about the evolution of the club and the direction it was taking. I think we both agreed that while today’s Breakfast Club is quite energizing, enthusiastic and anything but dull…there is and always shall be a certain magic that belongs only to the original Breakfast Club members. So to all of you, Akia, Droopy,
Lali, Petrah, (Kari, of course), Grimm, Chagall, Peter_B, Myrmex Onus,
Crucial, EvanK, Last_Wish, Rejeanne, Theona and Kally_Lunch, and any of the
original club members that I’ve neglected, but certainly deserve mentioning,
we, the current members of the Breakfast Club tip our hats to you, *bow* to
you, and thank you all, from the bottom of our hearts for setting the
cornerstone of such a beloved institution! To Kari, Jasper_D, Ctroni (call her Roni, please), Kally_Lunch, Brac, Dawnrenee, BobbyMac, Isalyna, SpyderWoman, Cassiopeia, Jo_Bleaux, Mystic_1, Net_Op, and any of the current members I’ve neglected, but deserve proud recognition, I squirt whipped cream in your general direction…..and run like he…………. *Karilea packs up her pictures, and leads Christophe to the door… before she leaves I hand her a bouquet of roses….my Breakfast Club trademark…* *Blowkiss, Karilea* *Blowkiss to everyone who enters the kitchen!*
