Misunderstood!

The other night I was with a small group of friends when I got an IM from someone wanting to know if I would be interested in doing an interview. I don’t get calls like that very often, and I’ve been pretty busy lately, but for this one, I just couldn’t resist the opportunity. I mean how many people have actually chatted with the Forum Avenger? 

My friends, Geea, uber_geek, and Ubber_Geek, were all there. Carcus and MichelleC had been there but wandered off by themselves. 

The Avenger made a dramatic entry, arriving in his orangey red tights. After a brief greeting, and with no warning at all, he suddenly stripped off his superhero suit, threw it on the ground, and announced he was quitting the superhero business. We were a bit stunned by this announcement, and a little embarrassed, but Uber managed to keep his wits and quickly grabbed the suit. (Memo to self… check the auctions) 

We were interested in why he was quitting. He told us that originally he became a super hero as a sort of joke. He intended to have some fun in the forums, and never dreamed anyone would take him seriously. He was misunderstood. Of course we all felt sorry for him, but never having been on the scene when a superhero quit I have to admit I was at a loss for words. My first thought was “I wish Rick Slick was here”, he always knows what to say, even to some guy standing around in his underwear. The situation was made even more delicate because here we all were, standing around near the entrance to Zephyr with an ex-superhero. Does anyone ever feel comfortable hangin’ with a has been?  Did I mention he was in his underwear? I’m sure the avatars passing by thought we were pervs or something. It only got worse when Uber put on his green care bears outfit. At that point even the Avenger decided it was time to leave ending my chance at the interview of a lifetime.  

Without his superhero suit, the Forum Avenger no longer has his amazing powers. Even if he wanted to come back, his suit is gone. I suppose Uber could sell it back to him… at a tidy profit, of course… ;) 

For those who may have thought the Forum Avenger was me, I can assure you, we interacted in front of credible witnesses, and I think I proved that I am not his secret identity. Carcus and Michelle on the other hand disappeared about the time he arrived…. Hmmm … I wonder…. 

My next question is, I wonder if Rick would give a class on how to do interviews?
