MIMS At The Top By Videa
Tonight, There, Inc brought us a ground-breaking and gutsy design to the entertainment arena. Along with their new partners, Capitol Music Group, There made it possible for us to participate last night in a virtual chat with professional singer and popular rapper, Shawn MIMS. During the course of a fast paced and jam-packed
1 hour and 10 minute visit, MIMS spent time talking and interacting
with fans, “up close and personal,” in “The Towers,” the newly
constructed venues specially designed for musical and video public
events in During preparation of this unparalleled occasion, I managed to reach There, Inc. CEO, Michael Wilson and ask him a few questions about the evening’s activities, plus the technical aspect of these new venues. Videa, Vrooming Reporter: Michael, how did the idea for The Tower come about? Why not just any funzone? Michael Wilson, Music Groupie: The inspiration for The Tower came from CMG (Capitol Music Group) and our art partner, Metaversatility, Videa. Since CMG wanted an experience unique to their brand, they asked Metaversatility to create something truly unique to There. There were rumors that Skippy tried to convince CMG to use an artful selection of stone blocks as a venue, but CMG wanted something different.
Videa, Vrooming Reporter: What makes The Tower superior technologically? Michael Wilson, Music Groupie: Well, it's not. It's just a different kind of art, just like the art our members create for There. Videa, Vrooming Reporter: Who is in charge of placing/decorating The Tower? (Who holds all the "stuff"?) Michael Wilson,
Music Groupie: We worked with Metaversatility and CMG to
identify the best place(s) for the Tower, a Videa, Vrooming Reporter: Will The Tower be available for avies to visit when activities aren't scheduled? Will merchandise be available to purchase at any time between events? Michael Wilson, Music Groupie: Yes and yes! Videa, Vrooming Reporter: Do you have any other comments that you would like to express? Michael Wilson, Music Groupie: We're very excited about CMG coming to There, and we appreciate everyone's patience as we work through the kinks of the process (we've never done anything like this in There), and we're going to do our best to make the experience work for everyone involved -- most especially the community and it's members.
I thanked Michael, but I also stole a couple minutes from Alex and asked if there was any advice for the Tower Attendees. Alex, Gorgeous GoFer: Yes! Extremely Important advice for this and future events! We don't know how crowded each location will be, but the best advice for those who want to see the performers is - once you get into an event, stay put! If things are really crowded, you might not be able to get back in once you step out.
Once we arrived at the first Tower, Geea and I immediately got busy taking some pictures and mingling through some of the audience asking what music they wanted to hear and what they would ask him if they got the opportunity. “Can I add you to my buddy list?” “Will you give me your baseball cap?” “Will you give me your hoodie?” “Can I give you 10K?” “Can I have your baby?” MIMS was extremely personable and gracious and gave as many people he could his undivided attention. He is especially conscious of the kids who admire him and his music. He gave about everybody the chance to talk, even share their rap with him, “…but no adult content please,” he requested. I think he also may have wound up with an extra 10K TBs in his pocket. (I guess he hasn’t turned off the “auto-accept Tbux” yet.)
Right after the announcement was made, “MIMS has
left the Tower!” I made a bee-line Videa, Vrooming Reporter: What do you think of our little community? Shawn “This is Why I’m Hot” MIMS: I love this site.. it’s the wave of the future. It puts a real life feel on the whole chat room thing. I love it. It’s very addictive. Videa, Vrooming Reporter: And what did you think of The Towers? Shawn “This is Why I’m Hot” MIMS: The towers were incredible. Especially being able to see my video playing in the background. And the posters were great. You guys did a great job.
Videa, Vrooming Reporter: Did you get (a poster) to keep? Shawn “This is Why I’m Hot” MIMS: Honestly, I’m not sure, but it would be cool if I could. Videa, Vrooming Reporter: I loved your new album, especially “Doctor Doctor”... what is your favorite song on the album and why? Shawn “This is Why I’m Hot” MIMS: Thank you, Videa. I appreciate that. Ummm... well they are all my fav songs. But if I had to make a choice it would be “Don't Cry.” Videa, Vrooming Reporter: Good song! Shawn “This is Why I’m Hot” MIMS: Cuz it’s my most personal song, and it really means a lot to me.
Shawn “This is Why I’m Hot” MIMS: Well, I've been inspired by many from Biggie, Jay-Z, Nas, Tupac, Dr Dre, Snoop Dogg, Outkast,… the list goes on. Way too many to name. I’m a fan of music. Videa, Vrooming Reporter: Amen! Hey.. I don't want to hog all the time so one more question... would you like to come back to There to relax and play? Shawn “This is Why I’m Hot” MIMS: Yes I will, I’d love to come back. I love There.com . It’s a great site with friendly people. Videa, Vrooming Reporter: I would really love to teach you how to buggy race! Shawn “This is Why I’m Hot” MIMS: Yes I would love that.
Cyrex from Life In There: And are you on tour right now? Shawn “This is Why I’m Hot” MIMS: Well I was recently on tour with Microsoft. It was called "Music is My Savior” Tour presented by Zune. And now I’m about to go international.
Cyrex from Life In There: Rock on
As this event is wrapping up, and the clean up crew is hard at work striking the stages, I am collapsing into my buggy and setting the auto-pilot for my bed! WHAT a night! I feel like I could sleep for a year! I may never recover! …. What’s that, Geea? You say the next Tower event is WHEN??? *THUD
