THE VOICE IS FOUR YEARS OLD by Geea
Today The Voice of There celebrates our fourth year anniversary. We are proud to say we are the longest running newspaper in the history of There. An accomplishment we are proud of. During our four years we have put out over 1800 articles. The Voice has a loyal staff of long time Therians. I would like to give many thanks to Archie, Rick_Slick, Juliaaedens, Zafferon, Videa, Fazzerelli, and ZachC. And a special mention goes out to two of our newest writers Nyllone and SoftlyDreaming. I would also like to thank Thumdar for his encouragement. Without them there would be no Voice of There. The Voice started with a combination of writers from three different newspapers in There once they closed their doors. The Caldera Sun Times, the Motu Eagle and the Tyr Star. It is extremely hard to keep writers anyone who has ran a There newspaper knows that. I am extremely lucky to have most of the starting staff still with me and still plugging away. We are also excited that as new members join There they are also reading the Voice and writing about their adventures and and experiences in There. I would also like to thank the loyal readers and to everyone who has contributed to the Voice over the years with their emails, articles, and commentaries and lets not forget the picture of the week - keep them coming!. For those of you who know me, each year I say I'm closing down The Voice, yet I keep it going. Some people think we have a great big staff that puts the paper together. Actually it's just me at my desk and a cup of coffee. Each morning checking Therecare, checking forums and checking There Fun Times, cropping pictures and pulling articles from my email that the writers had sent. If you are wondering why you see some writers and then you don't for a while it's simple, they need a break. Like Rick_Slick saids "Writing is Hard" especially week after week, year after year. I would like to give a special thanks to ZachC, at times it was only him and I writing to keep the Voice going instead of shutting down. Thank you Zach we wouldn't be here if it wasn't' for you. On a very cool note, we recently acquired two new reporters and possibly a third who are relatively new members to There. It is fun to see the enthusiasm they have for There and it is refreshing to read their perspectives of our virtual world. Just like many communities online many people come and go. It is at this time I would like to give a special mention to some reporters that are no longer in world or with the Voice that deserve mentioning because they help bring us here. Melady my first Assistant Editor a truly talented writer and great person without her the Voice wouldn't have started. Where is she now? She is back in There enjoying There and her friends. NigelBlackthorne, my second Assistant Editor, Nigel was instrumental in many aspects of The Voice, Where is he now? Nigel is still in There enjoying his friends and designing. Rose_Blossom my star reporter who is sorely missed. Where is she now? Rosie is enjoying real life and rumor has it she dabbles here and there in that other virtual world we will not mention ;) But don't count her out I doubt she has written her last article for The Voice. And finally JoeyG, who had a flare for words and style. Where is he now? Joey is doing real life and having a great time at it. I keep him on our staff page because he help to create The Voice and he will always remain There. The Voice is always looking for writers check our staff page on how to become a writer for The Voice. Also if you read The Voice and you are wondering why no one is writing about you in There, let us know and we will :) Thank you for a great four years of bringing you the news of There, if you keeping making the news we will continue to report it. |
