There's a New Art Gallery in Town by Geea
Thanks Geea. I have been a member of THERE for one year and a little more than a week. I had read an article about THERE back in 2003 I think but I didn't see its full potential until I looked deeper into THERE last year. It wasn't until a friend of mine who was involved in another world online came back into my life again that I started searching online. Unbeknownst to myself and to himself, he was about to die. Upon searching virtual worlds in Google I found the word Metaverse. I searched that word in an encyclopedia which mentioned two worlds repeatedly. One of which was THERE.com. I checked them both out and saw that the members of THERE appeared to be having fun. It looked very expressive. Dreamweaver was pivotal in my choice to go with THERE. I found the fashion stylings of Dreamweaver to be modern, intriguing, classy & compelling. I wanted to see more! I found her websites and enjoyed the pictures of all the social events. Feeling the loss of my friend led me to pursue the possibilities of THERE with fervor. I first joined mainly because I'm a very social creature anyway and felt a real need to be more social while being shut inside during the Snowy season here in Colorado.
Who inspired you to start designing? What inspired me was my ART though if you are asking WHO inspired me is another thing and that would be mostly Friends! ‘cheese’ I have to admit I lucked out. At first in THERE I was content with the adventures I had with my explorer pack and was happy going from place to place exploring alone. Eventually through one dear friend Moganna1 I met a whole nice group of people who happened to be Designers/Developers. I consider them some of the most patient and inspirational people. If you would like to know a few names. Mariesa, Carcus & KORTT have been pivotal. Mariesa educated me on the basics. Carcus made some great Frame Models which I use and then KORTT made this Awesome Feile’s Art Gallery that will always be a one of a kind. Other friends such as ZachC, crystalsparks, babe, westcoastgirl and several others. All of whom have been very supportive, helpful and offer advice. I would like to thank everyone. I’ve tried my best to do so in a recent Club FAART Group Email. Meeting Dreamweaver in THERE and then having her sponsor me with education, time and supportive energy has been immensely beneficial. Most recently I am working with models from two very gracious members - BansheeKate & Nex3D.
In real life you’re an artist what type of art do you do? I am a Fine Art Painter/Sculptor. My paintings are mainly Acrylics on stretched canvases which I build myself. I also use layers of Acrylics on some paintings with alternating layers of Florescent and Phosphorescent Pigments with some Phosphorescent accents. I have used some acquired objects intermingled in several paintings as well. My paintings have been mainly stylized figurativism or some how containing some sort of human elements. I have done some that have DHARMA ART qualities to them as well even as being Fine Art. I do some abstract work too but I haven’t explored that aspect much lately except in Drawings. I’ve done some Photo Shop work and Photo montage work too. My sculptures have been organic forms made of Wood Tree Branches and then covered in hand made papers with a light source inside. I’ve done a few structural sculptures in Aluminum and fiberglass as well. At first I was intrepid as to what might happen to the images or My Art once they were in world. After a while with everyone telling me that they love to see real world Art in There… also saying they love my paintings and that they would love to have them in world. I felt I had to follow through with something and JUST DO IT! I felt some of my friends places could use the visuals of some of my art in the decorating of their homes or PAZes too. I didn’t want to just do auctions though and was hesitant to use just any place to show my work. I wanted a place to show the works in a more controllable environment. The New Gallery has the collisions placed outside of it so you can see things with out your camera becoming obscured. Things were done especially for the Art sake since the paintings glow in world in the Moonlit Night Environments option for Homes and PAZes. I’m thankful now that I can see them in the THERE perspective because I see things of them in world that I can’t see in R/L since many are SO BIG you can’t appreciate some of the details. Here you can see the whole thing. Even if it was the size of the side of a building! Of course there’s also the EXPOSURE aspect. I can now show people on the other side of the Planet my Paintings that are still for sale or have been sold already and I can’t do that with out a virtual Gallery. Sales of V/L Art can sustain the gallery if people like the work too. I’m very excited about seeing more R/L Fine ART arriving in THERE.
FAART – what does that stand for and how did you come up with that name? Feile’s Awesome Art Resources of THERE! ‘smiles’ OHhhhh~~~~ the gang was hanging out on the beach one night. We were being silly and messing around. I kept saying that I needed to come up with a name for a Club for my Art Shows that I wanted to hold. I can imagine they were probably getting sick of hearing me yack about the group name. I wanted something short yet catchy. Something you’d remember. I told them a few of my options and ZachC encouraged me to go through with it… I did and so it just stuck. The FAART Club Home page also has a link directly to the base of the Gallery Towers.
Tell me about your new art gallery what was the inspiration and why did you choose the location you did?
People are saying that they love The NEW Feile Gallery and it’s LOCATION, Location, Location. Isn’t that what they always say? That it’s always locationX3? The New gallery was built while The developer kept the viewing of the Art in his mind. The structure is built by KORTT. I mentioned that I wanted to use the terrain also to be a part of the viewing experience so that one doesn’t feel so detached from the world. The Walls are all made of GLASS for this reason. You can see Therian terrain in a 360 degree view around you as part of the ART Viewing experience. I wanted people to feel more apart of their world and to not feel as secluded as they might inside of a walled in home some where. The building is cylindrical in shape and towers off the ground. He placed the collisions on the outside of the structure to make viewing Art more easy. You won’t fall off the ramps either because of these collisions. The floors are very cool Tan tiles with dark grout and are similar to the ramps that take you from the first floor to one of the other 4 floors. The first level is actually almost 10 meters high too so we can get some really large installations or sculptures to go in there! WOOT! In the dark the ceiling actually appears enlightened which is neat. I drove every type of vehicle looking for this place. I looked for about 4-5 weeks for the location. I wanted a spot where there was mainly snowy peaks for snow~hoverboarding. I love boarding in RL or THERE! I wanted some grassy area to get away from the snow for those adverse to it. I looked for a place close enough to open space to where buggies and other vehicles could be driven. The Gallery being perched up on towers on top of the tall, snowy peak was of major importance to me! I love it! I’m so glad The Feile Gallery is there now. Being in the gallery sometimes… well …It sometimes feels surreal. What is in stored for your gallery? The Feile Gallery’s
