The MAB- Does it Really Affect You? By SoftlyDreaming I was playing a game at High Spirit Spades (which really is but that's another story) and a new member of MAB KayleighLace came in and this inspired an onslaught of euphemisms of what MAB could really stand for some quite funny- but I chose to speak up. I think it's great that you’re on the MAB I say and everyone whole heartily agrees they voted for her. Also my spades partner Percy had just finished his term of MAB. Later the next day I was at fisher and I saw Tikatatu who had helped me in what seemed eons ago at Cosmo and I congratulated her on her being a new MAB member. So many new and xmab members made me think, does MAB really affect me? Okay I am the first one to admit I haven't been in There long. If newbie was based on just when your first avatar was created I'd be in diapers. Haven't we all met the endless bronze dude with no profile, the basic whose been basic for three years and hasn't joined a club? Or the people who insist There is just a game. But even in Real Life I'm a focused person. In a few short months I got my gold pass and became Legendary Club Leader and my club The Bff club got featured in the There Fun Times and tribute clubs were made. As crazy as it sounds I saw a BFF dog running around. So that means I am part of the There community. So if There really is a on-line community and we actually spend half our lives here don't we need representation? I wanted to find out. First up a conversation with an Island Guide who will remain nameless and honest. "Wat d u do in mab 'shrug" she says. After I tell her what it is she asks me what my article is about and I tell her it's about how the MAB affects the average person in There and she says "doesn't in the least bit" Okay I'm still not satisfied I want to know more so I interview Percy because he just finished his term and this guy takes the MAB seriously. The first thing he did is turn me on to Vash's and Sprinx's first pod-cast What's Going on in There. Which is awesome! Almost as good as the There Voice Commercial ROFL. I did learn something from the podcast Vash emphasized that it's all about feedback to the There Staff. Now on to my interview with Percy. SoftlyDreaming: Why did you personally decide to serve on the MAB? Percey: Because I felt that MAB can make a difference, by arguing ideas made by the community to clarify them in a way that text sometimes fails to do. A 'one-on-one' discussion is easier, clearer and more 'to-the-point' then an endless stream of 'posts' in a forum." So this guy uses forums maybe that's an idea. SoftlyDreaming: Do you feel your service made a difference if so how? Percy: Yes, I do... not immediate results (although some were achieved), but in the long run. Concerns were put on the board and have been acknowledged. Since Makena Technologies consists of about 50 people, it is unrealistic to expect instant results. The communication between There and the community, by means of the MAB, are invaluable and makes sure that There and its members remain in constant dialog about where to take this virtual world of ours." That inspires a question I didn't plan-can you tell me something specific that was achieved? "an update to ThereCare about an issue with 'Coke Avies'. There was a problem with them being unable to submit items to There....turned out a fix was actually running at that very moment. At our request, an update was posted about that within 2 minutes. " So There listened! SoftlyDreaming: Okay last question do you think the MAB affects the average individual in There? Percy: It does. The thing is though, that they don't realize it." Then he added "The MAB works for the betterment of the entire population and the virtual world we live in as a whole, whether that community is aware of it or not. The same applies to the entire There Staff. SoftlyDreaming: Thank you Percy! I also tried to interview MAB member Francis_7 but it was during a There Games flutterpack race and I ended up flying out of the zone...and Francis offered to read my questions in an e-mail after he said "cant think and race right now : )" So I'll look forward to that...but what do you think: do you want the MAB to really affect you? |
