The Garage
by Softly Dreaming
Being
new to
There.com I wanted to discover everything,
I
couldn't get enough. Up all night even when you have to work the
next day. Wanting to skill and be with your new on line friends.
Then the day came that one of my new friends told me about a place
where you could borrow vehicles and I went to that very special
place: it was called Steve Mack's Garage. I was in awe...it was so
fascinating. I tried hover packs that looked like butterfly wings,
hover boards that were like dragons. Hover boats that were like
ships and cars and I just couldn't stop going to the garage. I
brought new people and it was thrilling when I could get in. I
read the rules it was so impressive. I saved it with two other favs
in my places menu. I called the group: places I always am.
Whenever I held an event and someone didn't have a hover bike or
pa
ck
I'd run over to the garage and get them one. I'd take newbies
there and they would be just as amazed as I had been. Well once I
was hanging out at the garage and I suddenly realized you could be
a member. So I tried to join but I couldn't because you had to be
an expert buggy driver and I wasn't even casual. I was so
disappointed but determined. Every day I drove my borrowed buggies
so I could skill up and become a member of the garage I loved. It
took me a long long long time (at least it felt that way) but I
finally did it- I hit expert!!!! So it was time, that moment I had
been waiting for......drum roll please....I clicked to join the
Garage. Oh no I was stunned...the garage was full. Not accepting
new members, but then I saw hope, Steve had made Steve Mack's
Garage 2. Okay so it wasn't the original but I was in. It was so
satisfying all my buggy driving had paid off and I had enjoyed the
process.. I felt accomplished and elite somehow.

But
then my there life went on... I never forgot about the garage it
kept that special honor in my favs and I occasionally told newbies
about it, but the my things menu on my client was filled with
vehicles and buggies and hover boats and packs etc., etc. So I
just didn't get around to the garage that much anymore. But
recently I got nominated (you know who you are...thanks lol) to be
on the current Spring Mab 2009 and Steve Mack a former Mab member
was looking for someone to post Mab minutes in the archives set up
by Chagall. The link is
http://theremab.wordpress.com/ . I volunteered to carry
on the tradition. So Steve wanted to meet me to give me the
instructions. I'll have to say I was thrilled at the
prospect. After the Mab orientation meeting I met him in world at
the Garage, the special place that held so many memories for me.
It was in the early evening and I was feeling nostalgic.

The music at the
Garage was just perfect for the moment, and we found out later
it was hand picked by Steve himself, his garage rock. As we
stood there I told him about my love of his garage and my early
memories of it. Steve is an amazing man, I saw first hand how he
felt about the Garage and about There. And to my astonishment
and heartfelt
appreciation he opened up his original club to me and I became a
member of Steve acks garage. What an honor and a privilege. It
really means allot to me, to be in the group I wanted to be in
so badly. It's funny how even There life comes full circle. Well
I invited Percy over and we sat down with Steve and his real
life girl friend Ryleka and had a nice time. We talked about the
Garage, the Mab and There. Turns out the staff alone comprises
90 members, some pretty interesting people who love the Garage
too. Ryleka was impressed with the African outfit I was wearing
and that I had designed, and asked me to view it. I was honored
when she bought a copy. A new member instant messaged me about
getting in the Garage and Steve talked to him. As we were
sitting there another new member summed up my feelings when he
typed: "This place is awesome!" yes, I thought it is. After
Steve and Ry decided to call it a night and when
we
were alone Percy and I wrote each other love messages on the
free speech board. We also climbed the giant rainbow
pickle and then we borrowed a hover boat and drove to the
Spinning Spades club which is just down the hill from the
garage. The evening reminded me why I love the Garage and what a
great place it is to be. I just want to say thank you to Steve
Mack for making such a wonderful place and wonderful memories
for us in There.
