The Voice Spotlight: Deleight

This week I had the privilege of interviewing Deleight. There has many members young and old, it was great hearing from someone active in the community......

 

Softlydreaming: How long have you enjoyed There.com?

Deleight: I joined There in September of 2007. 

 

Softlydreaming: How did you hear about it/find it?

Deleight:  My sister told me about it several years back, I believe There was still quite new then and she was a member then.  I tried to check it out then, but my computer at the time did not support it and There wouldn't let me download the program.  When I did get a computer with a newer processor I remembered about There.com and checked it out.  The rest is history lol.

 

Softlydreaming:What do you love about There?

Deleight: I would have to say the people.  I have met so many great people in There and have formed some great friendships during my time in world.

 

Softlydreaming: What are some of the things you like to do in There?

Deleight: Aside from hanging out with friends, I always enjoy a game of cards, especially spades or motu motu.  I also like driving a buggy around the track on occasion or going for that jump off avie sacrifices lol.

 

Softlydreaming: Tell us about your clubs.

Deleight:  Well I have a few clubs.  I have a group called the Olive Tree that I run and there is a regular weekly event every Thursday at 7pm PDT/10pm EDT where I read the weekly Torah portion and then we sit around and socialize the rest of the time.  I also have a group called Singing Spaders.  How Singing Spaders got started was a bunch of people were sitting around at my friend Percy's spades club, Spinning Spades, playing spades and singing songs and one person would sing a song or part of a song and the others around the table would guess the name of the song and who sang it originally.  If memory serves me correctly that is also the first time anyone in There heard me sing lol.  Anyways I created the group after that. Currently there is no regular event for that club, but it is something I would like to start doing. 

 

Softlydreaming: Tell us about your Island Guiding.

Deleight: I love meeting all the new members!  I remember when I was brand new and meeting a few people who helped me get myself going.  I wanted to do the same for other new members and when I heard about the Island Guide program and how to become one I worked at meeting the requirements and joined. 

 

Softlydreaming: Tell us about your new singing venture in There.

Deleight: Lol.. well it started a couple weeks ago when I was sitting around with some friends in There and one person asked me to sing something so another could hear me.  I sang a few songs and I was asked then if I would put on a concert in her hood.  My husband, Koala07,  chimed up and said "yes she will" and in the end I agreed. It is my understanding that a few others are also being asked to be opening acts for the concert.  The concert will be Friday, July 17th at 6pm PDT/9pm EDT in the Siloam Springs neighborhood.

 

Softlydreaming: What would you tell someone who asked about there.com?

Deleight: I would say that There.com is a great place to come, meet people, and have fun.  There's a lot of different things to do.. there's racing, questing, dogs, card games, even bingo.  There's something to fit anyone's style.
