Wow
an another real life author in There. I logged in to Island Guide at
the special event. I was hoping I'd meet Jan Zimmerman and actually
help new ones to get the most out of the event. My bf was working
there at the tilt o' whirl handing out flaming bananas, (the event was
held at tropical adventures) and he summoned me early. At first all
the guides were standing around wearing our yellow free "dummies"
shirts. My bff Blackout Im'ed me to see what we were doing. So I
summoned him over. Percy had an assignment but Blackout and I, like
Greeter Rose mentioned about herself, were there to mingle and help
new ones. So before everyone arrived we decided to ride the rides. I
had the hardest time getting on the tilt o' whirl with my friend.
Blackout just laughed so hard.....I must admit I was so awkward...it
was funny.

We
also went to the ferris wheel, it was really fun being at the
amusement park! Now people were starting to arrive, and my bff spotted
Vash_Community. Now I've never met Vash, so I decided to be funny.
Vash was running around and I told my bff I was going to chase him to
see if I was booted from the event. To my surprise he stopped and
chatted with me and he was such a
great
guy. I must say I looked his profile pic... so cute and funny lol. I
could see immediately this guy had a great sense of humor. The event
went well. Jan gave web-marketing highlights from her book, and
answered questions. She even mingled with the crowd. Also there was a
raffle to answer Q's from her book and I won a hoodie!!! Greeters
Josie and Becky gave out t-shirts to attendees and I had the
opportunity to direct some new members to
them. It was a successful event. Then it got interesting: I was
invited to the VIP after party held by Mackie. At this small intimate
gathering Jan really made us think. She asked us what we loved about
There. I spoke up, PaintHorse mentioned the amazing things There does
for the disabled, people talked about the charity trees, and the amber
alert suggestion that is mentioned in the forums. Winged spoke of
being from a small community in Israel and how There gave him a chance
to enjoy the whole world and do things, that he couldn't do in real
life, virtually. A member talked about meeting people she could relate
too and Percy mentioned he has been There 5+ years. 'Nuff said.
Jan
asked us how we could market There
and she loved our answers and our passion.. Our word of mouth was a
strong foundation that would encourage others to join. Kitcat007
shared her enthusiasm for There and was impressed with the feedback.
It was incredible. Makena has done it again by
really caring about its members. There was a toast to There Staff and
all their hard work. It went by fast and when her time was finished
Jan thanked us all for coming and we thanked her. She gave us the link
to her book (which mentions There.com by name):
