The Last Mab Meeting

What a privilege and an honor to serve on the last Mab Spring/Summer 2009. Early in the term we came up with a theme "hot summer nights" a fifties Grease Lightening idea. And those summer nights were hot. The mab started out with a full list which is posted on the Mab Blog http://theremab.wordpress.com/category/mab-members/   But as with all Mab Groups circumstances influence each one's participation. And some really stand out and work so hard.Yet all contributions small or large are considered important. Because as a community we are a voice that will never be forgotten. Past Mab's include a variety of avatars such as Banshee_Kate, Amxscott, Chagall, DreamWeaver, Geea, ZachC, CarCus, juliaaedans, SteveMack Percy and thumdar.

 

All Mab's have had their rumors and their fights. All will attest that being on the Mab wasn't easy, but most will say it was worth it. And for those that don't think it was, and those who thought the Mab lost it's purpose...they too are a voice to be heard. The purpose of the Mab was to be a community and that is why Vash_Community continues to have that in his avatar's name. He says it's a reminder to him of his purpose in There, of the what the Mab's purpose was.

 

At the last Mab meeting it felt strange to see the clubhouse with out all the photos. Like it's happened so many times before the layout had been cleared. FemmieD_GayGrrl was so kind as to decorate it for us and provide seating for the last meeting....but only someone like Francis7 (with the pictures in his inventory) could restore it. It was kind of sad not seeing all the former Mab members staring and grinning at us from the walls like they usually did. It was almost like everyone was saying good-bye to the Mab and for all of us in that last meeting we didn't want to say goodbye. As we reminisced we realize our mab too had it's serious fights...and it's flirting.... yet we all agreed it made us stronger. When our Mab was pushed down it pushed back and all want to be a part of the community even now with even a stronger voice.

It may be the last Mab but it's not the last of the Mab Spirit... that will prevail, it will carry on. Spookie made a group for us all to keep in touch. Wabbs made a greased lightening Mab buggy. And oh yeah we all get a mug...ty Vash! And supposedly pictures of the famous suggestion board. Thank you to all the staff that worked so hard with the Mab. ThereRealEstate, Besquared, Emma, Mackie, the chaz, Michael Wilson just to name a few. After the meeting no one wanted to leave, we didn't want it to end. Trent7 and I lingered just talking... as if the Mab was still serving. I guess in our hearts we all still are. As Tre talked of future plans Meadow, Spookie, and Tam all volunteered. Femmie talked of volunteer interns- not a bad idea. Why? Because we all love our virtual home and we want it to grow, to always be better. As Vash says we all put heart in the product, cause it's our home away from home. It's our community.
