Cracked! by Dazee
I had an opportunity, with several fellow Thereians on Wednesday evening to get a sneak peak at an upcoming new board game coming soon to There. Its called "Cracked" and it is a word game combines hot potato and a boggle like word game It's a blast to play, quick paced and for 2 to 4 players. First to sit is the host who can select the difficulty setting; Easy Over or HardBoiled and can select the number of rounds to be played. (There are other host and game play options that are not yet implemented, but do appear in the official rules of the game which can be viewed here: http://webapps.prod.there.com/sg/rules/there_cracked.html)
The player holding the egg clicks start and begins the round by typing in the 1st word in that fits the category. Some of the categories we played while tested this evening were "Starts with TH" and "Ends in g" in over easy mode and "Contains Q and ends in R" in hard-boiled mode.
Each round is randomly timed, the player holding the egg types their word in the green box, if the word is accepted the egg is passed to the person next to them and continues until the egg cracks. Points are awared per word by how many letters per word and appear on the board under each players name column. You lose points for misspelling or using a word not in the dictionary. The only word we came across not in the dictionary at during the test was "bling" and well I guess that's more of a slang word.
The player with the most points at the end of the game wins!. At that point it is certainly appropriate for the winner to jump up and do the 'Clucky dance! We had a really good time playing Cracked. It was fun and challenging and something I think lots of people will enjoy. Cracked will be great to play at parties and I can see lots of potential for fun and interesting round robin tournament style events. In my opinion Cracked will appeal to all age groups. One of our testers suggested tonight that playing with her kids that play There will be educational, fun and a great way to expand vocabulary! Of course, the better your vocabulary the better you're going to fare here so grab you dictionary, bring your word skills and give it a try. Cracked tables are not yet available for purchase but they will be available at several venues "very soon" for everyone to try. No specific release dates but keep your eyes on the forums, the There Fun Times and of course The Voice for updates! Oh there was one downside to playing Cracked...sometimes pictures say it better than words...Reenie2u Cracked up, layed an egg and released her inner chicken! She'll probably recover, maybe she's been working too hard and just needs a vacation! Thanks again
There Staff for inviting The Voice to participate and try out Cracked!
I really enjoyed playing and give Cracked a sunnyside up!
(Oh that was bad even for me!)
