Redecorating a Love
Hate Relationship
By Jayyson
Redecorating.
Something that is both loved and loathed. Some say it's too time
consuming others think of it as a fantastic creative outlet. I tend to
agree with those who think it's the latter.
Since being back in world I've had plenty of opportunities to explore allot
of new and old places and catch up on one of my favorite things -
redecorating my paz. Wasn't until I was browsing through auctions that
I realized just how much of a creative outlet redecorating is for me.
It's something that is only limited to your imagination. With the
amount of house designs and other household items available in
auctions it really is a redecorators dream and a chance for you to
incorporate your own personal style into THERE.

Many times in the past I've logged in gone to my paz put away furniture,
browsed through auctions trialed new things and then put all the old
furniture back. Sounds crazy, gives me plenty of practice using
the nudge tool etc. Endless opportunities await if you decide to make
the plunge and purchase a paz lot and house. Unless you're fortunate
enough to have someone give you the items you need, be prepared to spend
some therebucks in auctions to purchase the items you need. Keep in
mind that most paz lots only allow for 50 drops or 50 items. Most
houses are 2 or 3 drops, however you will find some great 1 drop
houses as well.
The
time it takes to decorate your house in THERE can be time
consuming but the end result is that you now have a space that's
yours. An environment that you created and can share with friends
and family. With many different designers in THERE, you
are sure to find something that suits your individual taste. Here
are few things that I've found, which have helped me out in
my redecorating ventures. Buying sets of furniture is a
great way to save on drops. I'm not saying buy 5 or 6 pieces of
matching furniture. Some designers make these sets that include Amours,
Dressers, Bed Frames etc etc. Whilst the design is of excellent
quality and may work great for some people, using up 4 or 5 extra
drops in a bedroom was frustrating for me. One of my more
recent purchases which I'm very happy about is my GV bed set by
Ceashure. Compromising of a Bed with Mattress, and 2 nightstands,
it's purchased as a 1 drop set and with the nightstands included it
saved me 2 drops, allowing me to be able to put out other items
in other areas of the house.
Another tip
I'd recommend, and I admit this one can get a bit pricey, yet it helps
give your house something unique that no one else has, which is submit
your own artwork and photo's as pictures, in your house. All the
photo's on the walls in my house are my own work that include
some of my pets, photo's of sunsets and other general pics that I've
taken. Yes, this is a pricey method but you can list some of the
items you submit in auctions in small numbers to help recover
some of the costs.

Another recommendation I'd make is speaking with a designer who makes
furniture. Some may not but the ones I've spoken with have been more
than happy to create something new based on my idea or modify one
of their designs to suit your individual taste. They may or may not
charge you a fee for doing so. Great thing is that you have a unique
item suited to your taste and the look you are going for in your
house. The patio set I purchased for place which you see in
one of the photo's came with a bbq pit. I love the bbq pit as it
sits well with the look I was wanting to achieve out on the
outside deck. I also love the wooden frame work to the patio. I spoke with
the designer who made it and she was more than happy to make a new for
me minus the bbq pit which I was able to add to the front patio
area of my house. This was great as it was a win/win situation for us
both. I got a great item that I was able to use and the
designer had a new item they were able to list in auctions. I did
the same thing with the vines I have on the framework on the back
patio. They only came in 1 10m drops. Needing 3 of them I
realized it would take up more drops than I wanted. I spoke with the
designer who was more than happy to combine 3 pieces into a 1 drop
piece.
The garden area of you paz can be just as unique as the
inside. Many of us have different tastes in gardens and the
designers in auctions definitely cater to those varying tastes. I love
allot of greenery with splashes of color and have several large
Maple Trees in the front to provide that greenery I love so much. Flowers
are something I love too and have a few groups of Bird Of
Paradise flowers put out as well. One of my favorite things I did is I
purchased some large boulders from auctions and sunk them into the
ground in the front. It gave the front of my paz a unique look. Don't
forget you can also alter the time of day for your paz as
well. I have mine set between New Dawn and Romantic Sunset. These
two environments give a nice tone to the colors on the paz.

So as frustrating as redecorating may appear to some it does have it's
benefits. You can create something in a virtual world that is
uniquely yours that you are able to share with your friends from
across the world who would probably not get to experience it
in the real world off game. If you happen to stumble across my
paz while travelling through Aurora Island ( It's on the
hill near the hood with the pirate ships ) don't forget to stop
by and say Hi to "Rico" my macaw, he's perched out the
front and more than happy to dance around for you. Happy
Decorating.
