 Caldera: Desert Mysteries

 by Archie

Yes. Of course, you will be bombarded by paint-ballers in Zephyr, and the racing never stops in the Buggy Arena in the center of the desert, but there really is a lot to see here.  Buggy or bike, follow the roads and see where they take you.

I set out from Duda Bay and headed northeasterly along the ridge of the mountains. I notice the blue sea on my left and the desert on my right. The road is a challenge on a buggy, but is really fun if a few friends go scrambling in a buggy pack together. To keep from getting separated, pick a common destination or at least keep an IM window open.

Going solo. Often I might prefer to take a bike; it runs a bit more smoothly over the rough terrain, although the feel of land is a worthy experience when keeping a pace that doesn’t have you flipping over too much.

There are many places you ought to stop to become a bit more familiar with. The windmills are a fascinating structure to see up close. If you have a hoverpak handy, you should zip up and inspect the turning fan blades and the inner workings of this spot. The question clearly remains, “why?” Okay, sure it looks cool, but somebody needed to build this thing a long time ago, and it’s still going. I want to know why. Perhaps you’ll find some of the clues I found.

The desert holds many odd mysteries.

Vercetti Labs.

Mr. Vercetti has a blimp hanger out in the desert and looks like he may be up to more of those strange experiments that he is famous for. His upstairs office is surrounded in glass, probably to protect him in the event of the big orange blimp combusting into a ball of fire. It might just knock over that martini glass on the desk. Anyway, Mr. Vercetti, I just wanted to mention that the front door is wide open, and yes I snooped around a bit, but I won’t tell about the other really bizarre stuff I saw in there, OK, Mr Vercetti?

…Then just a little ways over, I found a theme park! Tropical Adventures! TheChaz put this great distraction out in the middle of the desert for some serious escapism! Then of course, I got stuck at the top of the Ferris wheel,  - oOOoooOo - Don’t look down…errk!

A Real Mystery.

Another wonder … “Morocco” is amazing. I hope you dear reader, will get to see this in all its splendor. I’ll just generically call it “Morocco” as many contributors are here, and the settings here are stunning. Go see it!

…So - Is Morocco haunted?

One of the weirdest moments I’ve had in There happened here at Morocco. I could’ve sworn I saw some one or something zipping around down below. I had nametags turned off for the photo shoot, but to check, I turn “tags” back on. Nope, nobody home, except…something moving, darting about, down there, zipping in and out from behind objects below. A very strange desert occurrence, I must say. And no, it wasn’t the phase-shift from lattice structures, but at times it looked like a blurry spot, even flitting above the buildings, but moved too quickly to be of “avie’ descent. It was a There-ghost. I really think so! Lol!

There is still a lot more desert to cover, like, Outpost MADRAD, and Fortress Alpha, believe me, the desert is never the same place twice! I will return soon to explore more. In the mean time, I wish you safe travel, and please keep your eyes open for any unusual phenomena in the desert.

The spirits will know your there.

Archie
