Being “Homeward Bound” in There

“Homeward Bound”, they say, is what the word “Ho-Bo” means. A poor vagabond hobo may not have an actual, real destination, or at least an “earthly” destination, but this person will definitely know they are on a journey.  Perhaps some are content with that, mentally adjusted in a way that simply has them spending their life’s days until the “Big Guy” calls them “upstairs”.  It could be that some of these wanderers are okay with that. But I doubt it. Homelessness in RL is very serious. In There, well, not so much…

 Anyways

At least in There, we can wander with out a lot of personal risk, or can we?  Rambling around from town to town like Woody Guthrie in the dust-bowl days, may sound like a certain special kind of freedom, but beware, all the temptations, wants and desires are just waiting to pounce. A simple, naïve, backwoods avie could get in a heap o’ trouble.  Just like in the “big city”.

Vroom! VROOOM!

You will have moments that you wish you had the fancy T$ 210,000 buggy. You could see yourself sitting in the driver seat, revving the engine, vroom! Vroom! – But… where would you go?  A true “professional” indigent, would soon end up leaving the thing sitting out in back forty, out of gas and just rusting away …

A “Swinging” Lifestyle?

But hey, who wouldn’t want to have fun ALL the time? Now wait a minute… isn’t that the promise of the ‘next’ world?  Heaven? Nirvana? Well, not really, but it is such a tease of a thought, when in our big old dull and heavy physical world, all that “fun” is ever beckoning, calling to us, “PARRRRTYYYY!!!!” Oh! What to do?

Hot Nights and High Times.

Yes, these sorts of urges are a temptation of course, as it is a real choice to dive right in. It really is choice though, y’know? We allow ourselves to be temporarily blinded, to live in denial, to turn away from the truth and reality. No it’s not easy, either.

Down Deep.

These momentary “glories” may quickly end up becoming our “shame” and our very downfall, and many, if not all of us, will soon be back on the humble trail of the “Homeward Bound” Can you hear the music? … “To save - a wretch - like me?”

So… is the “high” of enlightenment okay?

It’s easy to imagine, that in the Creator’s higher worlds, there will still be duties, and rewards, sharing of kindness and quiet recognition for being a spirit that creates positive forces, - and instead of leaving trails of tears, builds bridges of love and caring to new and fellow soul sojourners?

Call me idealistic. It may often be in the small things you do and say.

Oh well, just keep doing your best, and avoid losing time worrying about it. Besides, you already do many wonderful things in life and you’re very good at it! … In many ways we are all on the same highway. Rich or poor, powerful or powerless, brilliant or challenged, bold or meek, we all must face the same inevitable unknowns. We may not know where that road will actually take us, or what sites we may see along the way, but for sure, that road is in There as much as it is anywhere else.

I’ll see you down that road, somewhere, sometime.

Travel lightly,

Archie
