 Archie Explores

 Near and Far

I’ve been exploring in There since I started in July of 2003. Whenever I am away for a while, even a week or two – I find that many new things have sprung up, certain older things have become popular treasures and there are always more ‘must-see’ places than I can ever possibly get to.

This gem we call There. So much going on.

People chatting at Cosmo or anywhere. Builders somewhere quietly making cool portazones (PAZ), hoods, and designers dreaming up new items. Some beautifully simple, some complex and grand. Buggies zip by, a hoverboat way up high moves across the sky. People of every age, artistic persuasion and personality type, design, meet, chat, interact and bond, often in deep, lasting friendships. Although There certainly has its share of flashy rave-up parties, the long reaching aspects of this world keeps members here for years.

What I do.

I not only explore places and unusual sites to share, but also viewpoints of how There works and how we interact in this unique world. A city created in some remote location, a new way to play is realized somewhere else, an invention based on a designers insight, and an idea takes off at the speed of thought, and somehow all are related. It is such a joy  to experience and share even a moment of this kind of inspiration.

Now, with many huge land masses, exploring becomes a ‘real-time’ pursuit of discovery. Aurora, Comet, New Kansas, the Tiki Archipelago, and Tyr, Saja, and Egypt, makes it challenging, impossible, really, to keep current on all these ever changing environs.

But ya’know what?

Speaking for myself, being ‘up to the moment’ kind of misses my point of it all anyway. Sure, I feel a self imposed pressure as a Voice of There journalist to be ‘scooping the latest’ but not really in this column, you ARE reading “Archie Explores” after all. Virtual Philosophy, observations, and yes, places in There you may have never seen before, especially new-comers to There.

That being said.

Now, I wouldn’t want any aspiring new writer to feel as though all options are closed. It looks to me like the world is at your doorstep.

I see so much potential. If you are interested in creating a niche for yourself, consider all the information that simply needs someone like you to spot it, check it out, take a pic or two and tell us what’s up. You might create your own site or join a newspaper like this one. And what could you do? Well…

-Where are stories on the hundreds events happening continuously in There? Not only the biggest of the big, but many that are unique, significant or just plain cool.

-Where’s the stories on the newest, coolest, weirdest, interesting, whatever - hoods, portazones, quests, or in-world events? We try.

-Who are all these avatars sharing our world? The Voice would love to get everyone’s story in print, but realistically, it is a monumental task and we would need the help of the members to let us know.

Nothing is impossible.

I’m not making a recruiting speech. I’m just thinking aloud. There is packed with information that can be put into interesting articles, blurbs, blogs, stories, journals columns and what-not. So many of us have opportunities staring at us and we don’t always see them. (Me too!)

Lightbulb!

… hmm, maybe I need my own staff! Lol! Umm… Geea?  Could I, umm, maybe get a couple more desks in my Voice office and umm … maybe put a couple reporters to work?  … Just a thought …

Mystery Picture;  The Oracle. Where? This one is fairly easy to find – go check it out!

Great Travels to You!

Archie

P.S. Happy Birthday Makena!
