A Brief Look at our Time Line

Whatever you call There, you have to agree it is a social environment. You can say it’s a game, or a “chat room” but in the end, we must interact with other human beings in one way or another. It is a socially based world. And so is the “real world”.

Conditions and “rules” will always be in some mild state of flux. If things become overtly constrictive, the population will migrate to somewhere else in cyber space. And we all know about the majority of those alternative virtual worlds. Mostly conflict based platforms with games of war, and battles raging constantly. We won’t need to discuss how this stuff is easier to sell to the masses.

Really, in There things have not changed into some horrid vision of restriction. Small changes have been made to keep the world in check from going “nuclear” like the “Rants” in the There Official Forum’s guidelines, but even these are not creating as big a wave as they seemed they would. And that’s fine, and still, there are certainly other venues to “dump and release” one’s emotional baggage if need be.

Why?

Because on the user end, There is a very laid-back world.

The “island feel” in There is very real. When you’re out taking a trip around the islands, it has always been reasonably quiet. Typically, you might spot a few avies hanging at some paz or hood locations, either building, chatting, having a meeting, whatever. The world at large has not changed much. I would argue the world Real Life has probably changed a lot more the in There.  When in these beautiful islands you can still get lost in a delicious escapist reverie, and this is the stuff that make my experience special, to me anyway. You too?

Hang Loose

We “old timers” tend to grouse about it more, I suppose. In my humble opinion, the little changes we nit-pick over seem like they are in our face more, but it’s just a trick of what we glue our attention onto. The new members come in There with little or no comparisons to make, and still, the endless wide world looms largely over the port and starboard sides of the hoverboat, pretty much the way it always has.

There remains unique in humanity’s great digital experiment of the 21st Century. It is a rare and awesome place that to me at least, is going in the direction that an intelligent, prosperous, civilized, and truly modern world must be going.

Keep Exploring!
