  Wormholes in There

 by Archie

Firstly, a reader nicknamed “Dog” requested me (thanks, Dog!) to investigate this phenomena; Are Worm Holes in There, real? Well, I asked, and got answers. Mainly to this question; “What the heck are they- and where can I find one/some?”

Well, like any topic, the final truth might be in your definition of “Worm Hole”.

My first impression is of a Star Trek – like physical anomaly that when one happens to stray to close, the undetectable force draws you in like a black-hole and pulls you agonizingly through a dimensional portal to another location, perhaps in another world, and perhaps in an uninhabitable and hostile environment. Perhaps even to There Philippines!! (But I doubt it! lol!)

After some discussion in the Official Forums; Tips and Tricks, I am bringing forth a couple quotes which help explain the mystery of Worm Holes.

The most common one for me is on Western Caldera Island go up the hill from Campfire Beach (Hemp Beach) then find the road on the ridge. Use a Hover boat and float just a few meters above the trees. Head North as fast as possible and about half way between the Beach and the Crater just before the Laserium Ridge loads there is a server boundary. About 50% of the time your screen will stutter very briefly and you will appear to have fallen and your boat will vanish and reappear and you will become reseated and you will be over half way though Monkey Crater.

…And I think theenterprise172 has hit it right on the head here. These might me called super-lag, or probably crossing server boundaries at certain times when they aren’t in the “mood” to interface with each other. lol!

Driving in cross-country races, we have hit wormholes forever. It’s not just in flying. i always called them warps, myself. Imagine driving along at full speed turbo, barely keeping a straight line and 4 wheels on the ground, when all of a sudden your view shifts, to way up in the air.. spiraling down and you end up far past where ever you wanted to go.

I understand as someone already stated, it is because you hit a sever border or the corner border of 2 servers, faster than it could keep up.

they seem to change slightly, prolly cus of the sectoring, and server loads.

my favorite was going past the cannery & through the inlet in Motu and between the two mountains. i would always land past the craters. The other is going from hoverpark to zona, i always pass island tours (east , is it?) and land close if not on zona.

Contributors to the thread in “Tips and Tricks” have made solid suggestions as to what these phenomena are. The suggestion about “terrain code” bugs left by the original designers of There. Some places where there are no server boundaries don’t fully explain all worm holes. We also have members in There who apparently are capable of creating wormholes that will transport an avie from space to the islands.

Some worm holes have been reported to blast an avie over a mile away. (thanks! Aliv!)

Probably the most bizarre explanation; is “haunted wind”. Could it be a “ghost in the machine”? ‘hmmm. Read the Worm Holes thread in the Official There Forums in “Tips and Tricks” and then decide for your self.

Thanks to all contributors, here and in forums, and to you  (Readers) for coming along on the “Worm Hole” ride with me!
