I decided to give Rick his own column since he does have a unique way of expressing himself.  Also it saves me the time of putting disclaimers on each and every article he does. ;)  So for some comic relief, we present to you The Blue Nose Files

MISSION: SLIGHTLY DIFFICULT PREMIERE!
By Rick_Slick

.

What is the measure of a man? A man can be measured by his dreams and ambitions that inspire him to achieve greatness. One man's ability to take a dream -- no matter how far-fetched or insurmountable -- and turn it into reality makes him greater than the man who lets reality step all over his aspirations and goals. For a great man such as myself, my dream is to one day slather around all naked in a large room filled with chocolate chip cookie dough.  Job interviews end shortly after I make that statement so I had to change my lifelong dream into one day writing a screenplay and helping turn it into a movie.

This Saturday night, I will have come as close as I probably will ever get to achieving that secondary dream when "Mission: Slightly Difficult" premieres at Virtual_Vikki's NeNe's Wake funzone. Last time I helped with a Miracle Pictures movie, I was not able to attend the premiere because I rubbed moisturizing lotion all over my hands and then trapped myself in my own bathroom for three days because I was unable to grip and turn the doorknob, so hopefully nothing unfortunate like that keeps me from being a part of the festivities.

I started writing the screenplay for this movie back during the Summer of 2004, where it went through several revisions to add humor and sight gags to an action movie that tried very hard to take itself seriously. I do the same thing with my Blue Nose articles... the first draft is usually like two sentences, half the words are misspelled, and they're really not very funny -- much like it wasn't very funny the time I used the satellite maps on Google to creep RavenTresses out by being able to tell her exactly how many trees she had in her front yard. Luckily for me, she didn't know what a "restraining order" was called when she went to the courthouse, so I ended up getting served a less severe "refraining order". Anyway, next we went through the casting process to find the very talented actors and actresses who helped bring the screenplay to life: Francis_7, Disky, Sloane_Maddoxe, Rickpa, Hawg_Rider, SumGuy, and Haydown.

Filming started on October 19, 2004, while we still dealt with various schedule conflicts, garbled voice chat issues, unfinished sets, and my egotistical prima-donna attitude. We completed principal filming on November 22nd, over a month later. During that time, helpful developers like Meret and Grimm designed specialized props for use in the movie, in addition to all of the objects that Francis_7 created while learning how to build and texture items himself. Meanwhile, less helpful people drove through the middle of the scenes we were shooting, chose to go AFK for five hours with their forcefields on right in the middle of the set, or called me and Francis_7 racists despite the fact that there were no buggy or bike racing events anywhere nearby. Also, because that's just my luck, the hoverboat templates came out like the week after we finished filming, and everyone made all sorts of cool jets and helicopters which would have been nice to have for an action movie!

We lost Sloane during several critical nights of shooting due to some real-life issues, but thankfully RavenTresses, who also plays a main part in the movie, was able to fill in as her stunt double. Unfortunately, we weren't able to fool anyone when we sent Raven off in disguise to try to borrow money from all of Sloane's friends after we wrapped up shooting for the day. Hawg_Rider also served as Francis_7's stunt double during the incredible hoverbike stunt scene you'll just have to see to believe. Not to be outdone, I also served as Francis_7's stunt double a few times to... um... move some objects around on the sets that I built because I owned the PAZ and was the only one with pickup and drop permissions. But sometimes that can be just as dangerous as hoverbike stunts, so BACK OFF!

The movie was originally due for a December 2004 release, but real life setbacks and other projects for Miracle Pictures kept pushing the premiere date out. Determined to see the project through with a series of continuous and annoying "Is it done yet?" reminders to Francis_7, I helped by designing the title sequence and the explosion effects with GameMaker 6.1, which up until that point we had no idea how we were going to pull off, as well as gathering up and mixing all of the music and sound effects for the film while we were waiting to begin editing.

In September 2005, the first 35 minutes or so of the movie were previewed by a live audience at the There Real-Life Gathering in California via DVD as a special treat, and much to our surprise, everyone stayed awake. Francis_7 continued editing throughout November and finally, on December 3rd, 2005, our project will be released to the public via Internet download on a pair of Atari 7200 servers set up with 14.4k modems. My one constant fear throughout the editing process was that it wouldn't turn out anything like how I imagined it all in my head while I had been drinking. However, I have seen final cuts of the movie and I am totally amazed at how closely the finished product follows the screenplay, thanks to Francis_7's expert direction and editing. Miracle Pictures will also make the DVD version available for purchase via Therebux through auctions, with deleted scenes and bonus footage not included in the Internet download. I wonder if he'll make me buy a copy...

As a movie prequel, there will be a Mission: Slightly Difficult quest which helps explain some of the events leading up to what you will see in the movie. However, completing the quest is not essential for watching the film. The quest will be run for two hours on Friday night, December 2nd, and will include adventuring across There and visiting multiple sets used in the movie to help the Slightly Difficult Mission Force insert an undercover operative.

As a note, the MSD Premiere location will contain a teleport link to a different site where the actual premiere will be held and whatnot. Grimm from Cartel Kustoms will be on hand to show off and auction the five stealth hoverbikes used in the movie as a limited edition. The movie download links will be available at that alternate location. See all y'all there!
