Clueless No More

by Nyllone

A Picture Quest was the first quest I tried in world.  I started it out bravely on my own, and was able to get on to the second clue.  Answering the question was not really the problem, as the quest writers encourage the questers to Google the answers.  Unfortunately, even after having answered the second question, I couldn’t go anywhere from there.  The next clue was hidden somewhere in a place that was described using GPS.  I was stumped.  I was a newbie quester and I didn’t know how to use GPS (eventhough Phonk had tried to teach me every so often).  I went home, frustrated.  I know I lack the sense of direction.  But I would really want to learn in time.

I went back to the second clue the next day, dragging Phonk with me.  We worked as a team:  he read GPS and I googled the answer.  We met nice people along the way who helped us through the quest either by telling us the location of the next clue or by summoning us to the location itself.  But then, after a while we thought it’s not fair to be summoned where the next clue would be every time since it took out the “fun” in questing.  So we decided to do it on our own.  After almost half an hour in a hoverpack searching for the clue, Phonk and I gave up and called it a night.

A few questers have told me that the quest I chose was not for beginners.  Believe me, I so figured that out.  I told myself I would do another quest one day.  It was an accident when I started my second quest, as I was just exploring when I chanced upon Didymus’ house.  I decided to give it another go.  First clue was piece of cake, but the second clue was tough.  I couldn’t see it anywhere.  Didy had to ask me if I have the invisible patch on.  Apparently, I was standing in front of the clue and not seeing it!  I made a mental note to download the invisible patch.

Months flew by after that second failed attempt at questing, when I thought of trying it out once more.  And maybe try to finish it this time.  I did Didy’s quest about Cats, and boy was I so glad I was able to complete the quest.  Although I was not drawn as one of the lucky winners, it was still a good feeling to be able to finish a quest for the first time.  I was also able enjoy the sights and places that I went to in search for the clues.  I wouldn’t be able to visit those places had I been just hanging out or window shopping till I log off.

A few days back, I visited Adventure Quest Clubhouse once again to try another quest.  I started Language Trivia by Atrusha and was off to Atlantis Island.  There I met Didy again after a long time.  Eventhough I couldn’t see the “flower” (since I learned I had to reinstall the invisible patch since There was updated), I was still able to find the clues because of the action tags, and answer the questions on my own.  Though, I have to admit that Didy helped me once or twice with some answers because I felt so ZIP.  (Do the Language Quest to know what it means, if it’s still out the time this sees print. lol)  We were able to finish the quest after some time and I was so proud to say that it was my second completed quest.  Yay!

On hindsight, I think going on a quest is like promoting There Tourism, because you would be seeing sights and places as you search for the next clue.  Likewise, it is promoting camaraderie as you meet co-questers as you go through the quest.  And a chance to win some Therebucks for completing a quest is one of the desirable bonuses you can get.

Let’s try and find some clues one day.  Yes.  It could be challenging, it could be tough.  But the most important thing is that you’re learning something new everyday and enjoying every moment of it.

I seriously think that the clue is lost.
Because I am so sure I am in the right direction.
Or was it me? :p
