The Mane Concern by Nyllone
Just before the four new hairstyles for women came out, Aradriel and I have been raving about them. When the Beta Testers started talking about the hairstyles in the forums, and Geea also wrote about it in The Voice, we became all the more excited. Ara was raving and raring to get The Catherine hairstyle, while I was torn between The Katie and The Jennifer. Phonk butted in to say that it doesn’t surprise him at all hearing us girls talk about hair at length.
Of course it’s no surprise for him. He knows me so well. Some months back, he showed me the first email I sent him when I was still a newbie. It sounded like an urgent email, alright. It was written on my first day because my hair “expired” and I so badly needed him to show me where to get the free hairstyles. Uh... Yes, that was my main concern on my first day in There. *blush*
After a few more days, I got my first hairstyle for keeps. And if there’s a double back somersault emote I would have done it. Then again, the ‘‘‘yay emote did fine. It was The Starry Night Eva, which is almost like my RL hair, and I loved it so dearly even without the hair patch. But moreso with Meriki’s hair patch! The day I installed the hair patch, was the day I felt like I was in a shampoo commercial. And I’ve never minded looking at my back since then.
But since I am a girl, I experimented on a lot of hairstyles in world. I even bought The Pixie during one of my lowest ThereMoments. It really felt like I had a drastic haircut. There was one time I tried a different hairstyle and hair color, and went home to surprise Phonk. He just stared at me, and asked, “Who are you?” Another time I went home with The Platinum Mohawk, and shocked the hell out of him. I kidded him that if he really likes me he would kiss me with The Mohawk. He pleaded me to take it off.
I tried almost all hairstyles there is in Shop. And I looked different in all of them. Some of them even reminded me of someone else, as I associate the hairstyle with a certain avie. I looked like a kid in one of them, and a grown sophisticated woman in another. One even enhanced my Asian looks even more. I didn’t go to a spa, but the hair changed a lot/a bit of my avie’s appearance.
When I attended the April Developer Showcase just recently, Emma gave out a free hairstyle as one of the door prizes. That was then I learned that the four new hairstyles for women are already out in Shop Central. Some members who attended the event were already wearing the new hairstyles, and even Emma was wearing a pink Katie. I discreetly crossed my ThereFingers and secretly wished to win The Jennifer or The Katie, but since I have no luck in raffles, I went home empty-handed. It was then I decided to just try the four hairstyles in the privacy of my ThereHome.
And since it’s a big news for me, I thought it would also be a big news for Ara. And I was right. Ara dashed to Shop to get her Catherine the minute she heard of the news. It was her original ThereHair with the patch on. She used to wear The Flip with the hair patch, that looked like The Catherine. Now, she’s got the volume with or without the hair patch on. I, on the other hand, thought of staying with my Eva after days of confusional dilemma whether to get The Katie or The Jennifer. ‘Hm. I wonder why I imagined Phonk doing the ‘doh emote? Then a thought came to me one ThereDay, and played with it in my mind for a while. What if we can have our virtual hair cut, done, and grown? Then there would be ThereSalons members would go to for the service they want. If I want my Eva cut, curled or styled in a certain manner, I would go to an experienced ThereHairstylist before I start my day in world. Then again, thinking of the time it would take me, being fickle minded and all, Phonk would have been AFK when I get back home. I guess I’m good with what we have right now. ‘winks
