Plati-Ny

by Nyllone aka Ny

Whenever I see profiles with Platinum Fun Pass and Legendary in almost all skills, all I could say is WOW.  I was wishing to get that Fun Pass someday as well.  But I thought, maybe it would take me a year or even longer to be Platinum since I was and am not really dead-skilling up everyday.

Some months back, I chanced upon a thread in the forums that linked to MC’s There Info.  It showed how to calculate the Fun Pass level by adding up all your skills.  It says Casual is 5 points, Avid is 15, Expert is 45, Renowned is 135, and Legendary is 415.  If you are Casual in Fashionista and Avid in Socializer, that is 5 + 15, you already have 20 points!

To level up, according to the site, Bronze Fun Pass needs at least 5 points.  Silver needs 130 points.  Gold needs 480 points, and Platinum needs 1501 points.  So if you are Renowned in 10 skills, that makes it 1350 points.  You still need one Legendary to get Platinum Fun Pass.  When I read this, I did the math and realized it was a long way off for me since I just turned Silver then.  So I shrugged and dismissed the dream for the meantime.

I just did what I enjoy doing in world, and I skilled and levelled up just the same.  How hard can it be then?  I am having fun!  And I even got Fun Gifts as I levelled up.  How cool is that?!  I got the hoverboard when I was Blue.  The hoverpack when I turned Bronze.  The hippy buggy when I became Silver.  And the bacio when I turned Gold.

And then, after six months of yada, hosting events, putting up clubs, helping and teaching new members, giving out brochures, telling Pynk to jump, beg and heel, playing Gin with Phonk, shooting targets, and disgraceful lap times in some tracks, I levelled up to Platinum when I hit Legendary in Fashion.  Ok, ok.  Maybe to some Fashion is not a “skill”.  But hey, I skilled up anyway!  Give me a break!  :p

The Congratulations message came up when I couldn’t decide what to wear for the day.  I thought I don’t have enough clothes to choose from.  ‘’’drat!!!  And I was even thinking of browsing the auctions yet again, for another “trial galore” when the message came up.  And I was almost confused!  How did I hit Legendary Fashionista?  Geez.  I was just changing clothes!  The Island Guide in me whispered:  You skill up in Fashion alright WHEN you change clothes!  Duh?!!  But, but...  I thought I would get Legendary in Event Hosting first, but couldn’t host just yet.  I thought that was the closest one I got to skill up to Legendary.  Then again, maybe not.  I guess, it pays to be fickle-minded when it comes to what to wear, huh?

Sadly, I wasn’t able to take a screenshot of that blinking message.  Me, the screenshot addict failed to get it!  I was just appalled.  Theremails started coming in, like they always do when you level or skill up.  But I thought, Theremails can wait.  And although, I was aware that I would get a PortaZone and a 2 Storey Beachy PortaHome for levelling up to Platinum, and that I would also get the Legendary Jacket for skilling up in Fashion, I didn’t bother checking them out - just yet.  The first thing I did was to view my profile.  And oh, WOW.  That was all I could say.

Maybe it really shows in your profile what you enjoy doing most in world.  Then again, somehow there are skills that are tough to skill up on, that no matter how often you do and how long you do it, it seems to stay in that certain percentage.  But oh well.  Doesn’t really matter if you enjoy it that much, right?  Just keep at it.  Or, so I was told!

I’ve heard and read of people turning Platinum in a month.  Thumbs up to them!  I guess you can say I took my sweet time.  Then again, if I can do it, so can you.  I am just an ordinary girl who enjoys everything I do in world.  And skilling and levelling up is just a sweet bonus!

You might be asking, what’s there to look forward to now?  Well, that is for me to know and for you to find out!  As for now, let’s have fun in There!
