Wow!  Can’t believe this is the first column of 2007! With the possibility that four seater buggies will soon be available to the developer community it promises to be a good year for Buggy People!

To help start off the new year I wanted to highlight several new designers. I searched (trudged?) through the auctions and as usual there are way too many poorly done buggies. Perhaps it would be appropriate here to say that using crayons and/or MSPaint is not conducive to getting your buggy reviewed here. While the search was long and arduous, I believe I’ve found three new designers you might want to check out.

In no particular order let’s start with the NFD Atlantic Pearl by Frayne. This is a limited edition buggy with only 10 ever to be produced. Normally I wouldn’t pay much attention to a limited buggy by a new designer with a hidden profile, but this buggy is really well done. The treads don’t quite match up, but hey, this is a first buggy and if that’s all I could find wrong, that’s darn good! The color is rich and dark. The gloss is beautiful, and I just can’t say enough about it except it’s too bad there’s only one left. It’s priced at 15,000t and for a limited buggy this well done I think that’s a good deal.

Next up we have the ‘07 Supersonic Sandblaster by Punkster. This one is also well done and shows some originality. I especially liked the vents on the side of the fenders and the hood scoop. You know I always like it when designers put the submission date in the product description. Punkster hasn’t overlooked that. This one was submitted on Christmas day. It’s limited to 20 and priced at 13,999t. There were 18 left at the time of this writing. If she continues on like this I expect we’ll be hearing a lot more from Punkster.

Our next new designer is Jordy26. I’ve seen some of Jordy’s earlier buggies and you can see he’s really beginning to get the hang of the template. The JD: Checked Street Racer is his latest and shows how much he’s progressed. The buggy isn’t limited and is priced at 13,999t. This is the price range with the heaviest competition, but compared with most this is one worth taking a look at.

I really hope that 2007 will bring designers a new way to show their products. To have to wade through hundreds of pages of auctions to find these three was tedious for me, and I seriously doubt a person looking for a new buggy would spend as much time as I did to find them. That’s unfortunate for new designers with a good product and not a lot of money for front page.

Finally we have a designer who, while not exactly new, isn’t all that established yet either. I’ve reviewed buggies by Quick_silva before so he’s not exactly a stranger. His QS - Pink Champagne has landed him here again. This one is limited to 21 copies and is priced at 15,850t. The colors are rich and the detail excellent. If you’re into pink, or in this case really dark pink bordering on purple, this is one to check out. His style and technique just keep getting better and this one is really impressive.

Here’s a heads up: On Wednesday, Jan. 3 at 6:30pm (PST) I’ll be hosting a ZMW Meet and Greet. The “excuse” is the introduction of several new models, but it’s also a great opportunity to hang out with other buggy aficionados. If you’re interested in going, you can sign up here: http://webapps.prod.there.com/eventmgmt/eventmgmt?op=view&id=538609737

It would be great to visit with readers, and afterwards, wander over and check out the Village Marketplace. It’s just a short walk away. Hope to see you there.
