I found a four seater from an old designer this week. Dwilliss hasn’t actually done a new buggy in quite some time. The new Flame four seater shown here is an adaptation of one of his earlier creations. If you recognize the grill or other parts on this buggy from others, he’s also the designer who made them freely available from his web site: http://www.schaeferfamily.net/there/BuggyPainterTips.htm#FreeBuggyParts
He also provides an excellent tutorial on removing that pesky hood square on the two seaters and a handy tool to help in the process. I’ve been using it for awhile now, and it sure makes the job a lot easier. OK, back to the buggy. The original was always one of my favorites and the new four seater is just as good. It’s priced at 13,350t and comparing it to many others in this price range, this is a good deal.
Another long time designer, michaelflya has come out with a four seater as well. Michael is best known for his many interesting creations in Gmax but he can put his hand at buggies too. The FX Sport 1.2007 (4 Seater) demonstrates that nicely. Owning a buggy from a renowned designer like Michael is tempting, but when you realize it’s priced at only 10,000t it becomes a bargain as well.
I knew Mariesa designed buggies. I’ve even reviewed a few here before. One I hadn’t seen before is the Emerald Gem 4 seater. The detail is excellent, and she’s really got that shine down. I loved this one the moment I laid eyes on it! Sorry about the drool, Mariesa, but I wiped it off! This one is priced at 17,995t. For that price you get a premium buggy worth every penny.
Enough with the 4 seaters. Let’s take a look at a couple of 2 seaters. First up is the Turisimo GT by Showstoppa. The deep blue color is amplified by his use of highlights. He’s really getting into the shine and it shows on this one. It’s priced at 16,000t and well worth a “Try It” if you’re on the market for a new racing buggy.
Maybe it’s just my wishful thinking, but it sure seems more and more designers are taking the time to work on shine. This new buggy from Toungesports is one of many demonstrating that the bar for buggy designing is going up. The Ice Bandit is light blue with flames, and I’ve got to say, he’s done a GREAT job on those flames! The grill is original and doesn’t look pasted on. He’s limiting the buggy to 10 copies, and there are 7 left. Priced at 11,850t I would have to say this is a great deal. Again, if you’re checking out buggies, give this one a try.
As time goes on I find myself looking harder and harder for original work. It’s cool to borrow free things like Majandi’s dash, or the parts from the dwilliss site, but those are only steps on the way to becoming a good designer. Copying others’ work isn’t going to make a person successful. People see it, they know it. The worst, of course, is STEALING from the resource files. That’s not only NOT going to help a person get better, it’s liable to get them banned. At the very least they’re going to pick up a reputation as a thief. I hope the person the person I’m trying to reach reads this and figures it out. Lots of people have seen this travesty. I won’t mention the buggy or name names, at least not now. One thing this person needs to keep in mind is that just because a designer isn’t in world anymore doesn’t mean his work is now in the public domain. The rules against texture theft are very clear.
