This past Saturday there were two big vehicle shows. Both were held at the Seattle Frontier Zone. The first was the Scion Show hosted by yours truly. The zone was set for 100 people and in spite of that, there was still a line of people outside waiting to get in. Forty Scions were on display, and quite a few designers were in attendance. Nex3d arrived with his two Scions Tcs including the new red one. The ever delightful Delightra was there along with DocD. The list goes on and includes other luminaries of the Scion scene like BigD, and samsw. Our editor in chief was in attendance along with the new Voice Scion. Emma seemed to be everywhere at once, and Yoshi Toshi arrived in time to check the Scions out before his big boat show! Many MAB members both current and past were in attendance as well. The show was huge, and I apologize for skipping over the names of so many friends and fellow designers who were there. There just isn’t room and my memory is strained as it is! The end of the event didn’t even cause a pause. Many people remained, as did most of the cars. Everyone was waiting for Yoshi’s Boat Show which started an hour after the Scion show ended, and he didn’t disappoint us! Yoshi created 13 unique one of a kind hoverboats. He didn’t keep a copy of any of them for himself. These were put into the auctions, and the show coincided with the end of those auctions. There were 13 boats available. They went for from between 50,000t for the Orange Flame Chrome and Fire, to 190,500t for the Redflame Chrome and Fire. I got sniped at the last moment and lost out on the one I was bidding on! All the boats were on display and the crowd loved them. Aztec distributed the url for the high resolution patch for them which really makes them pop. I was hoping for a scoop about what might be coming next and it was fun listening to Nex3d and Yoshi talk about designs; but neither let slip any secrets about upcoming projects. Attendance was huge for both events. Many people asked if there were more events like these being planned. None are at the moment, but several of us are thinking that an SUV show should be next. We’ll see about that, so keep your eyes open.
