It’s been awhile since I did a column where I reviewed only buggies. I decided this was the week for it. I’d wanted to do SUVs, but since “try-its” aren’t available for them, and Geea won’t let me put them on the expense account, that wasn’t feasible. Interestingly enough I found there are very few new buggies being put in auctions. There are many new Scions, mostly the tCs, but new buggies are becoming an endangered species. This isn’t a bad thing, actually. The Scions are much easier to paint than buggies. Hopefully as time goes on people learn and improve and move back to doing buggies that are of higher quality than the vast majority I’m used to seeing in the auctions. I decided to use Aurora Village for the backdrop this week. While I was there, a super hero dropped by for a quick (as in VERY fast) visit. I wonder how many of you have met this guy. I’m not so sure about the outfit, but I SOOO want his speedy shoes!!!! As regular readers know, Yoshitoshi held a big Boat Show at the Seattle Expo Center Frontier Zone weekend before last. He presented his new limited edition hoverboats and let us know that he would be making the model available to a few developers in the near future. I’m proud to be one of those developers, and now we’re waiting to see who the others will be. To determine who these lucky people will be, Yoshi has created a small replica of the hoverboat. Five of them will be auctioned off. The winners will receive the small replica and the rights to paint the hoverboat model. Once the winners have been announced we’ll be scheduling another boat show where they can show off their creations. I hope it will be as huge as the last one. On to the buggies! I noticed that Kazen has re-released several of her old designs. I have no idea which one I’m showing here since the catalog image doesn’t reflect what the buggy actually looks like and I don’t have time to log in and find out. For those who paid large amounts for these buggies thinking they were rare and collectable, I guess you “invested” in the wrong buggies. Kazen has every right to re-release her old designs. She’s done nothing wrong in doing so. On the other hand, while I like this white buggy, and the quality and price are excellent, as a collector I’ll take a pass. For those who simply want a good buggy at a good price, the latest re-releases may be a good choice. The prices range from 17,699t to 19,000t. A potential collectable is the Acuvue Buggy from There and Acuvue. This buggy was given to people at the recent Prom. It’s never been listed for sale by There and as time goes on it will probably become a piece of There history. If you have one, count yourself lucky. If you’re looking for a four seat buggy, the Unicorn GT by Sharmilla is one to take a look at. Sharmilla keeps improving and the Unicorn shows it. It’s black with good shine, and that isn’t easy to accomplish. The graphic shows little pixilazation and the detail is very good on a buggy priced at 18,000t. If your budget is small but you want a nicely done buggy, may I bring the A3 Buggy Kad by Kerry_Angels to your attention? It’s nicely done with good detail and shine. It’s also priced at only 13,000t which brings it to the top for those looking for a bargain buggy. Next week I hope we have more information about the new vehicle models from There and the Yoshiboat painter auctions.
