I found the pictures of some really cool looking buggies in auctions this past week. Unfortunately I couldn’t actually look at them in world because the textures wouldn’t load. I thought maybe it was just the computer I was on, so I tired another. Same thing. So, maybe I could pull them out and see what others thought. The first reaction I heard was: “Why are you going to review Kong Buggies?” I guess it wasn’t just me after all.

Since I don’t have anything else to write about, let me review the Kong Buggy for you. The Kong buggy has an interesting color combination of purple with a blue center stripe. The interior is stark, with a very plain green dash. The seats are gray, and are actually better than some I’ve seen by a few “designers”.  Of course some of those who can’t paint a seat just do a little texture theft and solve the problem that way. I wonder if these people actually think they can put a beautiful JND seat in a piece of garbage buggy and no one will notice.

The rims on the Kong are tiny compared to what we generally see now. Back in beta many of us sized our rims to match them. Later they grew and became more modern looking.

The undercarriage and tires have quite a lot of dirt or mud included in the texture. There has never charged extra for that.  The windshield (ok, BigD… windscreen) is very dirty and smudged. Even so, at least it isn’t painted up some garish color like I’ve seen on other buggies.

Shine? Well, it actually has some. In fact some designers have taken that same shine and used it on their own buggies. It works, especially with the appropriate brightness/contrast adjustments. It’s certainly better than a certain old pink buggy with the word “bitch” on it that the “designer” just relisted. She put 100 of them in auctions. Some were offended about the word on the windshield. I was offended that she thinks people are so stupid or desperate they’d waste good money on something that ugly when there are so many better to choose from.

I had some background shots planned for my column this week. Rather than have them go to waster, here are a few of them. The first is of a great looking buggy I found in auctions. I don’t remember what it was, but it hardly matters since you can’t see it anyway.

Next is the ummm oh yeah, another Kong Buggy.

Finally a night shot of a beautiful... ummm Kong Buggy.

Sadly, I would imagine some developers lost sales due to this issue. If the auction images were an accurate representation of what the buggies really look like, I know of two that lost sales to me. My collection is a bit lighter because of this problem. Hopefully There will get it remedied soon. In spite of my sarcasm I have every confidence that they’re figuring out what happened and are preparing a fix even as you read this. Heck, you’ll read this on Monday, it may already be fixed! I hope so, I submitted a buggy on Sunday, and I’d hate to get a Kong next Wednesday. I already have one from the last time this happened.
