First up we have three buggies created with inspiration from the movie industry. The 21st James Bond movie was released a couple of weeks ago. Within days there were two Bond buggies celebrating that event. Shown here side by side are the ZMW Aztin Marten 007 and the Thercedes XZO SE 700 by Shaeri. Both are limited to 21 copies to honor the 21 movies, and they both sell for 38,850t. These are a collaborative effort from the two designers. Another movie inspired buggy is the Traveler by Bo Duke. I love the General Lee from Dukes of Hazard, so when I saw the Traveler I had to check it out. The body work is excellent for a first buggy design and brings to mind the style and technique seen on buggies done by one of our more illustrious designers. The tread’s nicely done and lines up perfectly. The rims are very authentic. This is an excellent buggy, especially for a first time designer and at 12,000t it’s a good deal. My only complaint is the default “There” dash. I work with Shaeri at the UOT painter classes and I always tell the students that to do a successful buggy you need to work on the details. The dash is one of the most important and I wish Bo had done something with that. Otherwise I really liked it. Next I did a quick search in case there were any new Christmas buggies in world and found the Poinsettia by Craving. It’s a great design, but in my opinion it was misnamed. There’s no way this buggy is a flower of any kind. It’s AWESOME, and I don’t say that very often, but a poinsettia it isn’t. This is a hard edged racing type buggy. It’s VERY well done with such great detail even the 22,850t price tag didn’t bother me. It’s limited to 10 copies so that isn’t a bad deal, but the name would lead me to believe this is a cheerful buggy designed to celebrate the holidays. The problem is there’s really nothing about this buggy that represents the holidays except the name. This buggy is so good it should be out there all the time, not just for Christmas. A great job on this one, and maybe it’s just me, but I don’t like the name. As I was browsing the front pages I came across an image in pink. Now, there are those that have referred to me as the “king of pink” but honestly, I don’t really like that color as much as some people do. I’ve even taken to referring to it as light red. On the other hand I now tend to notice things pink. Under those circumstance the Evil Blushes buggy by Mercedes was hard for me to miss. This buggy was designed for Mercedes by RJ Designs and is priced at 10,850t. Its low price and simple design make this a buggy to check out if you’re looking for pink. If pink caught my eye, purple is even harder to miss. For those into deep purple we have the Pure Race Purple Charlinger by Ledzep. This one is limited to 11, priced at 20,000t and shows that the designer is working hard at making improvements to his style. The shine almost makes you picture a dust rag sliding off the fender. Unfortunately, according to the description, it’s limited to a five day auction and once its over the buggy will not be seen again. Once a designer makes a statement like that it’s unethical to renege on it. That’s really too bad. The market has been slow recently and purple isn’t a color that sells fast. By the time you read this, the buggy will no longer be available even though there were some that went unsold, and that’s a shame. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you all!
