by ZachC Last Friday morning in There turned out to be very exciting for people who crave new wheeled vehicles. The Scions that various designers had been submitting were in world at last! I’ve heard from several developers that sales were brisk, and this confirmed my own experience. To celebrate, Friday evening we had a Scion Show. There was a large turnout at the Seattle Frontier zone where many of the new vehicles were on display. It was great meeting up with old friends again, and it was also great making new ones. Onus and BigD26 each had a couple of Scions on display as did Samsw28. Crazy124 was a little late, but he had a couple ready for us too. BigD showed off his DMC Scion Street Car-08 Black and the DMC Scion xB Street Car 08. His xB is priced at 18,500t and is very well done in a striking pink/purple. The tC is shiny black with purple checks. It’s priced at 20,400t and has been selling so well he had to relist it. Onus arrived with two Scions including my favorite, the OMC PureEvilGT2 Scion tC. What with Onus’ most recent submissions it looks like he’s going over to the dark side! The skulls and worn finish on this tC are awesome, and it’s priced at only 17,000t. Some may not consider that price a bargain, but you have to realize that the submission and wholesale on all Scions is 13,400t. With that information you can see that a Scion priced at 17,000t means the designer only marked it up by 4,600t. The PureEvil also sold so well it had to be relisted. A relatively new designer showing a lot of promise displayed her Scions as well. Santasantita is a charming lady and it was a pleasure to meet her. She displayed several new Scions including a couple by sephong. Her SSB tracker is a black xD with nicely done graphics. It’s priced at 18,500t. She also showed the Pheonix Scion tC by sephong. This is a nice red car with flame graphics and is priced at 19,900t. Samsw28 showed off 3 new Scions including the SSW Emerald based on the xB priced at 17,500t and the ssw Marado based on the tC. The Marado is a charcoal gray with black tribal graphic on the side. The Emerald is, of course, a beautiful shade of green with a really cool graphic down the side and on the hood. Of course ZMW was represented. There were 4 ZMW Scions on display including the Silver Alconce and the Silver Blue xB. The Silver Alconce also ended up being relisted. It’s priced at 18,400t. The xB is priced at 16,400t. As I said before, Crazy124 was a little late arriving, but when he finally got there it was with two new Scions including his Deviant based on the Scion xD. It’s priced at 17,000t and includes a carbon fiber hood! I would have loved to see more Scions at the show, but real life can get in the way. Next week there may be a few more arriving on Monday, but remember the submission process has been shut down since last Thursday night. After Monday we’ll see nothing new until after staff is finished updating, which is expected to be on February 29th. For those of you who are interested, the next Buggy Design workshop will take place on Sunday, March 2, at 8:00am PST in the Seattle Frontier Zone. Here’s the link to the event:
http://webapps.prod.there.com/eventmgmt/eventmgmt?op=view&id=589957044
The first half will be devoted to questions and answers. The second half we’ll be discussing marketing unless the questions take longer than expected. As always, the discussion takes precedence.
If anything new comes in on Monday (like a black Scion tC from Nex3d for instance) I’ll have some reviews in my next column, but we’ll probably feature highlights from the Buggy Workshop. Have a great week, and I hope to see some of you there.
