Vignette 1

The hive was buzzing with excitement by the time I arrived with the good
news.
As I came in for a landing, I noticed my fellow bees saluting me, wings
flashing....
I landed and they pressed around me........
I performed the location dance, parading before them proudly, wings
twitching with excitement and pride......
And as they understood my moves, a hush started to fall, the buzzing
muting away......
Until they all stood silent, facing me and my deflated pride.....
I wondered what was wrong.......
'You have fallen prey to an old trick,' one of the older worker bees
told me.....
'The location you describe is a human garden,' she continued, 'and those
that go there seldom return.....and none live long after returning.'
I was saddened at these thoughts as I flew out into the wide world
again.
For the life of a worker bee never stops...............
